While DTE employs many skilled laborers, this review is with regards to the corporate structure. DTE's techs usually know what they're doing, but that's because they have to to work with dangerous equipment as they do.

The company's downside is the administrative structure determining when or if to call in the techs, which places take priority in restoration, how to rectify issues with customers who've been without power, how quickly to adopt renewables (spoiler: as slow as possible, while using customers' extra costs to pay for it, and still cutting a $10M check to their CEO), and what rates to charge residential customers. This includes their new time-of-day rates, which are discriminatory against the underprivileged (those who are underprivileged may be unable to run their AC's at the exorbitant rates DTE has set for the hottest times of the year, while the wealthy will just keep on keeping on).

Overall this "legal" monopoly is a terrible company, but we all know that already. They are trying to keep Michiganders in the dark about how much more we will pay under these new rates, hence their false marketing gimmick of "more choice, more control" while they are actually removing both from their "customers". They are also denying climate science by saying charging more in the summertime (which is hotter each year) is a cost neutral change, a stance which seems incredibly dangerous from such a huge oil and coal burning entity; one which incentivizes the burning of fossil fuels, as it'll just net them more money in the long run.

There is no prompt for power going off totally and coming back on. Long enough for clocks to start beeping on electronics.Outage was 4 times last night 3/31/23 at around 10:00pm and 3 previous times just dt before. This morning at 7:22 am. I called because 5 times makes me think something is not quite right. Normally when that happens I ignore it.But 5 times I can't. Especially after this ice storm in late February where we about froze to death. This morning I picked flickering lights as that was closest to our problem. Your prompts don't make sense as they're too broad. Royal Oak has too many power outages. I read where you save money by not upgrading important things such as the grid is old and that you don't pay overtime. Not good in the winter when it is dangerous and the power problems could be life threatening.

Such a poor service I ever saw in my life. It is 3rd without power in Novi city in snowy days. Shame on you DTE. You made USA impression down in the world. People are asking me, are you really living in USA. SHAME Shame Shame..

1.Thank you for the hardworking employees that worked during the outages.
2. If the problem was trees Traverse City would have more outages. The 17 yrs I lived there I can remember one outage. And I got a dividend every year!
3. Jerry Norcia says they are going to put millions of dollars in grid. They had a billion and half profit! All of profit should be put into grid. No bonuses. No pay increases to top management til we get reliable service.
4. Advisory board is a joke. We are hand fed questions to point us to the conclusion they want. No space to comment and add to survey.

In the past 2 months, since 2023 started, I've lost power a total of 4 times. Absurd in its own right but the bigger problem comes when the houses across the street and around the corner all have power despite the houses around mine in the middle of the neighborhood not having any kind of power, and the last time we lost power was because of "Ice on lines" and the next morning the ice was melted, still not getting power until the next evening. DTE is incompetent, and incapable of maintaining their own lines and equipment, they only care about having employees make sure cities aren't lying about how many traffic lights they need to pay for.

DONT EVER ENROLL in their home protection.I've had it for over a year when I got a leak on my hot water tank. Made an appt and had to take a whole day off for their technician to have him say that they don't fix that and that I needed a plumber I talked to dte and they said they had a higher priced plan called home security plus that covers plumbing in the home so I signed up. Had to wait 15 days before I could make an appt. When I did call to make the appt I was told they wouldn't fix preexisting problems so I said then cancel this plan and ws told because I used the old plan before it couldn't be canceled. I spoke with a supervisor who said they would put me back to my old plan and then hung up on me. Don't know if they will. DTE are you that pathetic that you would take advantage of hard working people?

THE WORST ENERGY COMPANY! my power has been out for 5 days. We got one day with it back on and now it's out again. They aren't crediting anyone unless you're power is out for 96 hours straight, they won't reimburse for spoiled food, and nobody is coming out to fix anything. Businesses on the block are their only priority. They don't care if pets and families are freezing in their homes. I called after 5 days of being without power and was told they don't even have trucks in route to fix ours.

My daughters wires fell into their back yard during the ice storm wensday night they reprted imediatly on their phone, thursday the report disapeared because dte said you have to report on line so they did, dte said their power would be back up on sunday, today is sunday now dte says powers been restored in their area and if their still without power report it (HELLO THE FLIPPIN POWER LINES ARE STILL LAYING IN THEIR BACK YARD!!!) they obviously still have no power! So they reported it again and dte said they now have to wait till dte restores power to all the customers who lost power during the ice storm before they restore theirs ?????!!!!! DTE ARE YOU FLIPPING KIDDING THEY LOST THEIR POWER DURING THE ICE STORM AND REPORTED NOT ONCE BUT TWICE! THEY HAVE 2 LITTLE GIRLS AND ARE AFRAID TO TOUCH METAL BECAUSE THE WIRES ARE LAYING OVER THEIR BACK DECK AND A DOG THEY CANT LET OUT TO GO PODDY !!! WHAT THE HECK! REPEAT WIRES ARE STILL LAYING IN THEIR BACK YARD 274 IDEAL STREET MILAN MI 48160 HELP!!! PLEASE!!!

Dte is extremely incompetent. Power went out at 5:30 pm Thursday.they said power would be back on by Sunday.now they are saying that it is Monday. There's 16 houses in this area without power. I have 2 friends that live about 2 miles away.there power went out Thursday at 10:30 pm and was back on Friday at 6:00 pm.there is 40 houses on that are on that road.went around our neighborhood and there are no power line's down.they should be held accountable.

The response to this power outage is not acceptable.
Apartment dwellers deserve electricity.
Buildings all around my build never lost power.
If i had a choice, i would not choose DTE.
Saying 95% of customers by Jan. 26 is a total waste of my time. And offensive.
I have always paid my bills, where is my service?

They're the worst. Been without power for three days. Zero contact or update from DTE. No way of contacting anyone to tell them exactly what's up. Registered out downed power line multiple times. Not even curious enough to come and take a look. I don't have a choice for electricity and have to deal with their piss poor customer service & reliability.

DTE is setting national records for the worst reliability, worst service and highest rates all while Michigan government and public service commission are no where to be found. Detroit news channels were all defensive when I asked why they aren't getting a response from Gov Whitmer and Michigan public service commission. One channel so defensive they got mad and hung up on me. Time to leave Michigan like so many recently have.

My DTE power was on throughout the recent ice storm but went out suddenly at 4pm on Thursday almost 16 hours after ice had stopped accumulating on trees and lines. They said my power would be restored on Thursday but changed it to Friday when midnight roiled around and still no power. It's now 1pm Friday and still no power. I drove around my area for more than an hour and saw no evidence of downed lines or heavy tree damage. And I saw not one DTE maintenance vehicle in my many miles of driving throughout noted outage areas. DTE is not being honest and transparent about their grid status. And I agree the new DTE outage site is of no value to its customers when folks are trying to plan around a potential extended outage over several days. Come on DTE and the Michigan utilities commissioner. Yiu can certainly do better than this

With in 6 months I have had 3 power outages, which is ridiculous. Currently my power as been out since 12 AM Wednesday morning, and dte said should be should back on yesterday,but it didn't come back on! Today they are saying, maybe today. Obviously they don't have a clue. I have been though many ice storms and this wasn't that bad, but DTR recovery is very disappointing and questions their management abilities. If trees are the problem, why haven't they taken care of cutting them down in the past instead of waiting for a small crisis. START FORWARD THINKING! YOUR JOB AND RESPONSIBILITY IS NO DOWN TIME or very little down time. Preventive and Predictive Maintenance of your equipment and in the field.

DTE is a monopoly and they know it. Now the average person has no recourse with DTE but as a group and protesting might get there attention. And I am sure there are Hundreds of thousands of customers that would join in a protest.....Who will start the revolution???
I tell you what..I'm in! DTE sucks! DTE sucks! DTE sucks! The worst performance record on the planet.....I really think people coming together as a whole could change things, but where to begin????

Unbelievably UGLY...this HUGE AND I MEAN HUGE effing ugly new upgraded box you stuck on the side of my house WTH...with todays modern technology YOU WOULD THINK YOU COULD HAVE COME UP WITH SOMETHING A 1/4 OF ITS SIZE NOT 4' LONG!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous!!!! Come pick up your ugly junk because it's most certainly not gonna work for at least 4 days out of each of the 12 months!!!!

If you think you should change an account from joint to solo because of a death, DO NOT.

I had a joint account. When spouse died., I tried to change to solo account. Rep said We didn't really have a joint account and that I needed to close the account and open a new one. I lost a 40+ year credit history and previous usage records on my home. Additionally, my information was sold to over 30 phone and mail advertisers to welcome me "to my new home." I have spent 20+ hours trying to get off these lists. (I know it's a DTE error because my name is misspelled.)

Do not give DTE the ability to profit from selling your information to advertisers.
