The dollar General in Panama Oklahoma is dirty you can't walk down the isles the emoyees there are on drugs they stay in the managers office and if they have to come out they are yelling at people telling them to use the self checkout. People that can drive go out of town

I read about your store in mineral point Wisconsin. I stand behind them 100%. Corporate greed is something we don't take lightly. Its not just that dollar store, I notice how overworked and stressed the employees are in all dollar stores. I don't feel comfortable shopping at a business that treats employees and the poor in general like trash. You lost this customer. I posted to social media as well.

No one to check out anyone. In back room. Stood here fir awhile waiting for someone to help. It's like this on Saturday is not the first time

Store in henderson nc needs to fire some workers who are rude and blare loud music while customers are shopping. Asked a younger black female with curly long hair for help getting something off a top shelf and she ignored me and rolled her eyes and loudly said come on nine o clock. She kept walking away while checking out customers and had a line so long she had to call for help. She always had her phone and if she didn't she'd go in a room in the back behind the registers while customers were trying to pay. She just seems to be there for a free check because she surely wasn't doing any work in between checking people out.

Every time I use my debit card at Dollar General it gets used fraudulently. Don't try to tell me this can't be proven and it could have come from anywhere. It only happens after I've used it at Dollar General. Please don't use this business they are a scam outfit.

I live in portland tn the dg 706a east 52 has been a total disaster since the previous Manger left
There's cart in the aisle over half
Of the shelves are missing product
The Manger is not stocking at all or
With coworkers pretending to stock but talking thank you

I rate Pike Avenue a 0 ratings on stars. Why because Mandy decided to call the police on my 13 year old daughter today, because she falsely accusing her by walking up to her asking what was in her pocket. As we stood by the counter and waited on the law the searched and found her charger, a card and her charger. They not only banned me, Rosetta Jackson from the store, Mandy has put fear in my daughter and she's not even that type of kid.

I use Dollar General store frequently. The particular store I am writing about is store#3328 located in Wagoner, OK on Cherokee Street. Every time I go into the store it looks like a tornado hit it. Stock is left out from truck deliver. Shelves are a complete mess, nothing is in order. I understand manpower shortage. But at least the store should be neat and orderly. Which this store is not. There is not enough people there to put up stock on truck delivery days. How about fixing this problem? It is a easy fix. Then the store would not look like a disaster. It need a better management team there that cares about the store.

Today Saturday 1/13/2024 a friend and I went to the Dollar General located on 2701 South Presa St in San Antonio. We arrived at the store at 8:54 pm and the store closes at 9pm. When we entered the store the woman said you have 5 minutes, we said no problem, as we are shopping we hear her say you have 4 minutes, then you have 3 minutes, 2 minutes and then she said it is 9 pm we are closed we were walking to register when she was saying this. As we were entering the check out area she started motioning us with her hand to hurry up. We then say thank you the Dollar General on Southcross is closer but we like this store better her reply was "YOu should have went there" ok I thought and then said we were in the store by 9 pm and what is it now 9:01pm and she said "You know what No I am refusing service", the cashier had already started ringing us out . She told us to leave and get out. We asked her name several times and she would not provide it, I asked her if she was the manager and she wouldn't answer but the cashier shook her head NO. We asked her name again and still would not give us her name. I have never in all my life and I am 57 years old. She was in her 20's I would say have I ever been treated like that in any store. You have lost both our business and will be passing this info on to all we know plus posting it to social media. Your company already has issues with not crediting digital coupons correctly and now employees who treat customers like garbage oh yeah Your company will be on blast first thing tomorrow morning. If we are successful and stop at least 10 people from using your store I will call it a win, We are also half tempted to picket your store warning people before they enter the service and the ripping off of coupons, I am sure the media will show. This will give us great satisfaction. Thank you and enjoy your day

It's nothing against the person working they were left alone and trying to get everything done it was the manager who left them by the self and they should have trained the worker and it clearly shows that they did not.

Y'all really need to do something about the way your upper management treats your employees today 12/16/23 I witness a young man get yelled at by his district manager or his boss so he said and the way she talked to him was so rude. While he was trying to work she just keep screaming at him through the phone and going on about how he wasn't Doing enough I mean the poor man was there by himself with a line of us just trying to do what she asked and checkout customers while she yelled so loud Thru the phone everyone within a mile could of heard! I felt sorry for him he asked her to please stop yelling because she was so loud people could hear and was hurting his ears and she just kept on. I thought wow great way to treat your employees! This happened at store located in idabel Oklahoma and can I just say it's a sad country we live in when bosses use their title and have no remorse even in front of customers over hearing that definitely isn't how a person should treat any employee! I wouldn't be surprised if the boy quit because of her rudeness!

On November 25, 2023 at approximately 8pm my boyfriend (who is an amputee) and I went to the Dollar General at 9689 Saracenia Rd Moss Point MS to

shop for some groceries. We shop there several times a week. It was Saturday and the store was very busy. We finished our shopping went to check out and the checkout line was very long things were moving very slowly because the person helping check ppl out the key holder /manager NAME:
Deanna, shoulder length blonde hair, heavy set was talking and holding things up we were 5th in line everyone in front of us had full baskets my boy friend told me he was going to the truck to sit down his prosthesis was hurting him and i told him ok and he left. As soon as he walked out the door Deanna said in a VERY loud voice "HE GOES OUT AS FAST AS HE COMES IN!" the customer in front of her ask why? Again in a very LOUD voice so everyone would hear she said "BECAUSE HE'S A THEIF!" She smile and looked around I could not believe she said that who does she think she is? She doesn't know us I was standing right there I was so embarrassed and enraged I took my hand bag and left the basket full of food and exited the store. I'll never set foot in that store again as long as she's there. She needs to be terminated immediately read the store reviews and google reviews she does this all the time to people she doesn't even know. Paying Customers... She's rude loud and obnoxious she doesn't do her job she park's in the front door she's always outside smoking cigarettes right by the front door so customers have to walk through the second hand smoke. She's always outside on her phone or talking to someone on the parking lot. If you go there at night 30 miutes before close she meets you at the door and tells you to hurry up. 10 minutes before closing she begins yelling "10 minutes ppl!" She shouldn't be working that job I'm seriously thinking of consulting with an attorney and filing suit against her and Dollar General she's a narcissistic rude and judgemental calling people thieves and crackheads all the time. It's embarrassing hurtful and wrong. [email protected] if I can offer anything more please feel free to contact me I hope you can correct this before it affects your business Thank You for your consideration

Well let me start by saying I went into the DG o. Salem Ave this evening to grab one thing and I went by the freezers and a mouse ran past my foot I said nothing o my because the manager was too busy standing outside trying to harass a girl she had a vendetta with talking outside vs be inside taking care of customers when I came outside I knew the girl was not professional because when I asked for help she said I'll be in there you gotta wait so I said ima call customer service and report the mouse and the manager leaving the store to harass a customer that didn't do anything wrong and the fact she was a manager was terrible because you rather harass people then serve them and did your store or pest I won't be back

My husband and I just shopped at Dollar General in Clayton Alabama.
It was the worst experience we have ever had. We stood at the register for ten minutes. The girl finally came. We said good morning and she refused to acknowledge us. Horrible behavior extremely unprofessional...I said again good morning she refused to answer I asked her name more than 5.times she would not answer. I asked to see her supervisor she wouldn't answer nor look at us or acknowledge us in any way. By now we are so upset. I ask for her managers name...she finally spoke to me and said "Google it". I demanded to see her supervisor she didn't answer. By then we were done by our purchase but I was not leaving till speaking to a manager. She finally said in a ride tone .." you'll be standing there all day cause I'm here alone. The worst experience ever ever ever. I will be calling corporate tomorrow morning.

Today I had the WORST experience in The Dollar General Store, 5900 Rivers Ave. North Charleston. Store No.5202 .. The manager Ms. Nicole had absolutely NO consideration for the fact that I was an elderly disabled person!! She made assumptions that were totally incorrect and embarrassing!! I will contact The Corporate Headquarters about the matter!!

A Manager was let go on October 30th without warning, even though she is the person help accountable for her employees actions, the District Manager finally found a reason to let her go, he has been harassing the young lady who busted her tail working for DG for 3 years, she rose to SM within months of starting to work for that store in San Antonio. She was kind and always there for her customers, her regulars knew her by name and they also enjoyed the atmosphere she created. She was always understaffed and had to cut her employees hours constantly so she pulled doubles all the time because her DM couldn't "FIND HER ANY HELP", meaning she didn't get to see here kids much, but she was there the following morning. He was rude even when texting her, he never acknowledged her hard work. But what can you do when you want to report him to HR and you find out that his wife makes those complaints disappear so what is the point of filing a complaint. When she was let go, 2 of her employees walked out with her, that was how loyal they were to her and they witnessed how DM talked down to her all the time. It's amazing that some people get these EGO trips and take for granted good workers. It's also amazing how he FOUND help for the store when she left. He had been trying to push her out for a while and honestly i believe he found the backstabber that helped him find A REASON. Wish i could complain or report this to the higher ups since his wife works in HR, but i will leave this here and wait to see Karma do her thing!!!

Your broken bow location has gotten so bad lately, I live in broken bow and went in for a few items and ended up in a line with only one worker running register! I stood in a line backed all the way down and isle for 20 minutes not a manager in site and the other worker walked right passed the line didn't even offer to help really rude! Floors looked absolutely filthy and I stood there for quite some time staring at it so I should know! The idabel store has really come up and seems like your broken bow store has really come down lately and I don't mind driving to idabel from now on for better service because the few times I've been in the employees were always friendly and kind!

I was at the store on Lyell Ave and Spencerport Road.
This store has been skuzzy for years.
Dirty, products on the floor, loaded carts in the aisles.
On my visit I was pleasantly surprised. The store was clean, neat, no carts in the aisles, well stocked shelves and pleasant cashiers.
They current staff has worked so hard and should be commended. I told them so and will now shop there more.

Feedback regarding store 9736 employee Daniel. Daniel went over and above to provide quality customer service today. For starters one of the items was not priced and I brought it to the register and asked him how much it was and right off the top of his head knew exactly how much it was; which was very impressive. In addition, I couldn't find a product and just mentioned it casually while he was ringing me out. He said he remembers seeing it down the aisle, and he finished the transaction and had someone else take over the register and he walked me down the aisle to what I was looking for that I couldn't find. Because of his customer service I ended up buying two additional products that I would not have bought otherwise. In addition he was very friendly and very personable and makes me want to shop that store again. I would consider Daniel a model employee that others should strive to be like. customer service doesn't seem real high on most retailers priority list so it was really refreshing to see what Quality Service he provided.

Lately they have been out of my favorite flavor of sparkling water they said give us a call and will look for. For the past month or so I've called and nobody answers the phone. You can leave a message but nobody ever calls me back. Other than that their customer service has been great for me.

Yesterday I went into the Garyville, Louisiana store to shop when it started storming. I had a cartfull of items not looking forward to unloading them into my car getting everything wet. I noticed earlier the manager escorting people out to their cars with an umbrella and thought they was very nice of him. When it was my turn, he grabbed a kiddie pool, turned it upside down, and escorted me out to my car. He was awesome! This has never happened to me in all my years and I ain't no spring chicken. Thank you manager of Dollar General for being so thoughtful and a genius! Five star! Sorry I didn't get a name.

I was at store #09768 and used an insurance card for a OTC purchase. The cashier knew exactly what to do so I could use my card. She was fast, efficient and friendly. She did a fantastic job! I appreciated her being knowledgeable on what to do so the transaction would go through. We need more employees like her. She deserves recognition for doing such a good job, excellent customer service.

The DG store in strongstown pa is absolutely the best store ever. I spend a lot of money there and get excellent products and customer service. They have amazing clearance items and if you need anything they are so friendly and helpful. I would say they deserve an A++ if they were getting a grade. Such good experiences at that store.

All dh stores should have a manager like the one in Murfreesboro Tennessee on halls hill pike. Her name is Bonnie. Don't know last name. She is the friendliest person I've ever encountered in one. Always telling each person good morning and have a nice day. Always ready to help out customers. She is an amazing person. I l9ve going in there just to see her and her smile. She is wonderful.

I was at the Dollar General store in Culver Indiana yesterday. Mandy was working behind the register. The whole time I was in the store I could hear her happily, cheerfully, taking care of people in the store. It's so nice to hear a happy voice and see a smile on a face. She really went above and beyond to check me out. We chatted a little bit. Stellar Dollar General employee!

Regarding store at 7967 Derry St Harrisburg, PA: Store was being closed for 1 hour for lunch when I arrived. Customers where being turned away and being told store was closed. I had just grabbed the cart outside and put my canes in it. The lady looked at me and said I could come in. It always takes me a good while to shop with my disabilities. I couldn't understand the closing as there were 3 employees working. I go to this particular store as it is easier to get myself into and I do not live close. I felt bad for those being turned away.

I am am employee that used to work there, sad to say much has not changed since 2020 reviews. Don't listen to our problems and constantly tell us we are replaceable and we are not needed since others can be hired and trained. Always putting us down in text message but then start new groupchats and tells us to delete past ones cause they dont want a trail. I felt the utmost disrespect since January when I started and i only dealt with it for 4 months sadly. Doesn't support two jobs if needed, always going back on what they say cause they 'forgot' what happened. Made me take the key position TWICE just because no one else was there because they kept quitting back to back then say it's your fault when things don't go right when we have to call them for help( after already doing it by book and training) and come in with attitude and eyerolls when calling them as they informed us if help is needed. Always playing the blame game and has an unbelievable work load that night shift sometimes can't finish cause the busy hours are from 3pm to close on most days. Threatened on a daily with right ups or terminating so it messes with your mental health and if you have depression or anxiety. Don't care about vacation time or doctor days even if you bring a note, results in cutting your hours. Though the managers will gladly take the time they need whenever and make someone else cover in place of them.
I had to get another job on top because I told them I didn't want key holder, cut my hours for 6 weeks and I told them in the result had an eviction notice on my door, was told not my problem. Worst people I've ever had the displeasure of working for cause they always take sides with other Hispanics that work there. I was even warned before hand by previous employees before they quit. Store 23414 in midland Texas, ran by Leticia and assistant manager Tepanga. Would NOT recommend if you need a place of work or money.

I used to work for Dollar general. Some of our customers showed me how to use coupons which helped most times as we didn't make very much I could stock up on necessities in case things got worse during the pandemic. At one point my hours had been cut enough to affect my ability to buy groceries periodically through the month so I would take items that I didn't need back and exchange for food.Every Saturday the coupons were mailed off for that week to corporate for manufacturer reimbursement. Most of the items I had bought more than a week and a half to two weeks prior to my exchange. I had to do this a few times with other key holders and managers processing my exchanges. My intention was to exchange for groceries not to receive cash refunds I never held on to my receipts more than a few days as I would scan them into a points app. A few days before I was terminated I had brought some items from a client that I did homemaker work for a couple times a week who is blind and lives alone to refund for her as her husband suddenly was gone shortly after purchase. I brought the items to work with me and left them in my car until later in the evening and then I had another employee help me process her refunds match up her receipts with the refund receipts and verify that all items were accounted for. Only slips that went into the register I just did a quick scribble as I did not have her permission to sign her name I just scribbled. A couple of days later I came into work clocked in counted down my drawer and took over as the primary cashier until the next employee came in to run register while I did stocking and recovery as I was a lead at the time. I checked out maybe three people and the manager came to me and said that there was someone from corporate on the phone that needed to talk to me they had some questions I spoke to Kyle the risk management officer and he asked me about my exchanges in returns I had explained to him the situation he mentioned to me that some of the items had been purchased with coupon but had not been credited towards the grocery items at the coupon price but instead at regular price I apologize not thinking that it was going to affect me very badly as I did not do it intentionally. He told me that the company would be at a loss of over $109 for the difference between my credit price and the coupon or discounted price that was paid for the original items, which I thought was extremely high as usually it was only maybe 9 to $15 saved with all the coupons in an entire shopping day on Saturday. And as I had only made maybe eight exchanges there was no way that a few coupon items could amount to that much. After I finish speaking with him I was under the impression that I had to watch my self and pay better attention when doing exchanges not long after hanging up with him my manager approached me and requested my keys I inquired as to why she wanted my keys and she informed me that I was terminated for theft. When I tried to inquire through corporate and filed a request for my termination to be reviewed and possibly reversed I was shut down without explanation. Feeling I was wrongly terminated I did file for unemployment. When I was denied unemployment, I filed an appeal. When the mediator held the over the phone appeals interview with myself, the current store manager that had only worked there for just under a week before I was fired, and the district manager, I was practically slandered, defermated in my character and belittled. They had accused me in this appeals hearing of processing all of my own returns for cash every transaction. The district manager even went as far as to state that she felt confident that I had purposely bought the items with coupons in order to gain cash back above what I paid as a way to supplement my income. When the mediator explained that it was my turn to answer questions and make my statements, I vehemently requested that they file for the CCTV videos to prove that Management's statements were fabricated, to contact the risk management officer that I spoke with to prove that they were in contempt of the proceeding as they had sworn to tell the truth to the best of their knowledge. They also said that they had investigated through backlog CCTV history and notified corporate of my dealings when risk management said that my district and store manager had only been informed of any of it within the 20 minutes before speaking with me. And through all of this, I stood by my signed agreement to pay the $109 and change I was accused of shorting the company, and all the while, they we're reimbursed by the manufacturers with an additional eight cents per coupon redeemed. Unemployment therefore took 6 months to decide the outcome of my appeal. Their final determination was I was ineligible for unemployment benefits due to my termination for intentional aggravated theft. I have never been so vehemently and thoroughly abused by an employer when it was not necessary or warranted for that type of disciplinary action. I believe a little counseling and a demotion would have been more warranted considering the nature of the discrepancy. But to have my actions that any consumer has a right to through their own policies at Dollar general, turned into a criminal action with lies and unfounded accusations is devastating. Even as a entry level cashier I did not hesitate on my own time to leave my family to assist with truck deliveries when our refrigerated products would come in. I even had my husband delay our evening out together when I was called by my manager only 5 minutes away from home headed out to a movie to assist. It makes no sense to work that hard and be that dedicated, and then do something intentional to cause harm to my employment and my reputation. I guess maybe I just didn't 'click' with management changes that had just occurred, as I evidently did have a chance of advancement due to my dedication and experience. Not once did my managers question the transactions they were processing for me yet when I applied for a new management position, within 24 hours of my online application being posted, I was terminated. I hope they enjoy that $218 between their manufacturers couponreimbursement and my repayment. I have a feeling they're going to need to put that towards more legal fees in the future as they continue to value their profits over the people that keep their company going

As a former employee. Dg does not care about employees. Who make 9 dollars an hour compared to the 17 million ceo makes. They dump so much stuff into stores and expect it to be put out and if it's not u r history. They treat employees very badly. They don't care about u from Christmas until spring

I was a store manager at dollar general but now I'm supposed to be a full time key holder and my store manager now and a part time cashier treat myself and another employee like we're nothing the store manager has the hole store looking like a storage room the trucks aren't getting put away but she wasn't a to sit in the office most of her shift or leave non key holders at the store by them selfs I try to do the best I can when I'm there but two or three people can't do everything and no one is listening when we call and them

If you're looking for a job I do not recommend Dollar General. My boss and the district manager are friends and she let's my boss get away with highly illegal actions such as, clocking in then going outside to sit in her car for 2-5 hours, overtasking employees, committing document fraud, cussing out employees and their family members and so much more. I'm working as a lead sales associate and getting paid 50 cents less than all the other people in my possession. I'm also severely getting taken advantage of on top of getting no credit for the good surveys in my name and for the work I do. I will never recommend this corporation for employment.

I would most certainly not recomend dollar general if you are looking for employment.
This is an example of how they treat their workers. My niece worked for them for some time, she finally left for a job with better pay. Dollar general put the wrong bank routing number on her final check which was for four weeks work, over $400 ( their mistake) so her paycheck was sent to some bank in Ohio, not even her bank! She has contacted Dollar general where she worked and was told she had to contact the bank in Ohio and tell them to refund the money. She contacted the bank who told her they could not refund the money untill Dollar general requested it be refunded.
She contacted dollar general as well as the district manager and informed them of what she was told by the bank. Their reply was that "they" didn't do that and she would have to deal with the bank. Since that conversation the manager and district managers respond has been to simply hang up on her when she contacts them. So after more then a month of trying to recieve the pay she worked for she is going to have to contact an attorney and file complaints with the Better bussiness bureau and national LRB.
So unless you enjoy working for no pay and dealing with management that could care less I would steer clear of working for Dollar General.

Dollar General Is A Joke!!! As a previous employee I learned a lot about this company and it's disgusting the things that goes on at their stores. 1. The fact that this company does not care about their employees is sad!!! 2. All this company cares about is MONEY MONEY MONEY!!! 3. They work you to death and expect you to bow down to their every needs. 4. You can not have a life working for this company! 5. "YOUR LIFE IS DOLLAR GENERAL" was what I was told. 6. The managers that they hire are full of it. The managers are doing drugs, sexually harassing the employees and when they turn them down, they mess with their hours. They talk and treat their employees like they are nothing!! This company should really have some type of training for their managers and also they should be drug testing. On top of the managers stealing money. This company is a CIRCUS ?... Never have I worked for a company that was so horrible and I'm almost 40

I worked at Dollar General and never once was I told you couldn't bring food back so I had brought some snacks for my lunch and it hasn't been even 3 hrs tried to take them back and they said I could not bring food back it hasn't been opened matter of fact hadn't even taken it out the bag but wanted to return to get my cash back and use the gift card I had just got out my mailbox so could have my cash in my pocket! Cause I start a new job and might need it!

I worked for a dollar general, there return policy is very particular, if the item or items you are refunding total out to more than 10.00 you will have to show them an I'd, and provide a phone number. Basically its to prove that there was an actual customer doing the refund and the employee wasn't doing fake refunds and taking the cash, cause dollar general thinks all of its employees are thieves. So you can't blame the employee for doing what they are told.

To whom it may concern, Let me start by saying I love my local DG in fact my step daughter works for you & my youngest daughter Taylor Gilchrest is also an employee of yours now as well at store # 01389. I inquired for them with the manager christy ( But they got hired all on there own ) who I think is amazing, I never shop at another DG even before my daughter's got employed there because I found her to be an extremely hard worker who took pride in her store, & I wanted my girls trained by her because she seemed to be a strong leader & wouldn't except anything less from her employees not to mention she reminded me of myself, young adults need direction and a strong leader because in my opinion I feel this generation has this idea in there head that they are entitled to everything and only have to work when they feel like it.I did not raise my girls that way, and for my youngest Taylor I needed to make sure that she continue in that direction so when I meet christy I knew right away I was leaving my daughter in good hands and that she would learn alot from her and strive for more to please her & christy has done just that, my daughter looks up to her. Your lucky to have her ( & my daughter of course :-) ) So with all that being said my daughter Taylor came up with a great idea for your business, however she still is a little shy & still working on her confidence & I know she will not tell you her idea, & she's gonna be embarrassed that I did this but she needs to know how smart she is & what a great idea she had. So hear it is. Arts & crafts are going viral pintrest, you tube and so on & alot of people are posting there ideas with items purchased at DG now wouldn't be great to walk into a DG & seeing a demonstration for a dyi project just using a few DG products & only spending very a few dollers . You can set a day an time a few times a wk and change the diy project weekly so you'll have that return cust. Who may not go online and see all the ideas that are there. Now they can just get to see it live and just pick up the pre/ packaged project you can have everything they need for that weekly project already to go and a step by step how to directions sheet stapled to the bag & maybe even a video tutorial on your website. I couldn't pass up this great idea of hers, I just had to write you about it & Taylor & christy even if my daughter doesn't talk to me for a wk cause she'll feel I have embarrassed her. Lol what are parents for. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this & I hope one day I can aee her idea come to life. Sincerely Kimberly ( A very proud mom )

I really believe that the assistant manager should be salary also. Myself I would work more hours and not be overtime.
Never enough time to getting all done.

I can't trash any DG I have gone into lately. Everyone is always nice. I worked for this company for almost 2yrs and would probably still be there if I hadn't been talked to badly and called stupid by someone in upper management. There is days I wish I had toughed it out and ignored this man.

I have been a Dollar General employee for almost 3yrs now. I am a manager and often process returns.
I would like to apologize to all of you that have experienced poor customer service. Most of these complaints are inexcusable.
I can tell you that Dollar General values your business and suggest that if you have have problems with your local DG- you should complete the survey on the bottom of your receipt. Dollar General values your opinion. If there is a problem that needs to be fixed, the surveys for that store will bring it to attention. Surveys are analyzed monthly for every store.
I admit that have also disappointed a few customers, but not for rudeness. I enjoy my stores customers in Mabank, Texas and look forward to seeing them again.

Not happy
Lead Sales Associate (Former Employee), Newton Falls, OH '“ November 13, 2016
Pros: The girls i worked with were great.
Cons: The manager is a not so nice person.
I recently quit working at a dollar general in Newton Falls ohio. I worked at walmart for 10 years and never seen such horrible management ever. So sad at how poorly that store is ran and the rules dollar general has. The store manager has a not taped at the register that says we have to ask every customer for money for literacy or we will be wrote up. What the heck. We do all the work raising money for the charity and only person who gets anything is the manager. That is not right at all. And to have job threatened is crazy. I was a department manager at walmart and we worked overtime if needed for inventory. Not allowed to be off not one manager not store manager no one. The store manager at this dollar general goes on vacation for inventory every year and makes all that work fall onto us turn keys. We are not allowed to leave on our lunches which is our time. We can not be rung out by a regular cashier so on several occasions when just me and a cashier till the next turn key comes in i cant buy food for lunch or a drink. So i go the whole day with nothing if i forget my stuff. I was told i am not to miss one single day in December by my manager unless i have a death in the family. Seriously you can ask me and tell me we are so busy and need all hands on deck for the month but to be told im not allowed to miss work is craziness. Our cashiers if they work 5 hours they get no break and cannot have a drink. I dont understand why they can not even have a bottle of water to drink. When your running register and in between customers your putting away freight you get thirsty. I have never been talked to or treated so poorly. I was so excited when i moved far from home to this little town to go back to work with the public. I love people and to socialize and help them but this store definetly turned me away from that. Those girls there can not afford to leave. They are only ones working in there home and need that job and that manager knows it and treats them so poorly. Its so sad that they are treated like that. Im lucky i dont have to work and could walk away. I pray someone reads this and fixes the way that store is ran because those workers are such amazing workers and an asset to dollar general.

I applied for an Assistant Manager position with the new Dollar General Store that will opening soon in Mobridge SD. I received a voicemail message from the new store manager requesting to callback to set up an interview. I called back and left a voicemail message that I was calling back to set up an interview. Well it's been over a day and a half and I haven't received a response. While at my current job, another employee told me that they actually spoke with the new manager on the same day I got the call. The employee was verbally told by the new Dollar General Manager that they would call them the next day. I flat out find this unprofessional in terms of how the hiring process is done by a new Dollar General Manager. Since I haven't received a response in a timely manner back from the new manager and from what was said to another potential hire, I've decided to withdraw my application. Hopefully the store is better to shop at than to apply for.

The biggest problem with this company is corporate. You all wonder up there why all your stores are failing and are to stubborn to admit that you under pay and you give the stores NO hours to work with. How do you honestly expect a grocery store to run on 500 or LESS hours?! The DMs who work for this company are obviously trained to only give NEGATIVE comments about the stores and nothing POSTIVE. These stores are a joke. Signed a frustrated employee

My local store has been hiring since the beginning of September. Along with signs stating a nation wide hiring event. I spoke with the manager of this location and was told that I would be able to work there to just fill out the application. He is an awesome manager. Has been fighting all along to help get me hired. I have applied to every position available at this location, twice. With no results. The manager doesn't receive my application. I do not receive any feed back. I have tried connecting with a live person about this issue and get nothing. I have even emailed and am told that there are so many applications sent in that they can't get to all of them that quickly. If that is true, then why does someone else application show up in 4 days and mine goes no where? Is this how you tell people they didn't pass, by not saying anything at all? I just want to work. I am a hard worker and very reliable. I am obviously ambitious or I wouldn't still be fighting to get hired.
