I am currently on hold with Gap trying to speak with a customer service representative...I've been on hold for 1.5 HOURS now. Absolutely ridiculous.

I am disgusted. Did not receive my new card are a report of a lost card due to your error in mailing. MAde a purchase yesterday in store with them calling in. Received a bill on-line. unable to GAP. Had a great difficulty getting to a live person...15 minutes. Once connected unable to get me account information to pay on-line. Spent over 30 minutes and could not pay. A loyal customer is very aggrevated and disappointed with the service. Will not be happy with a late charge!!

I'd like to issue a complaint about the incompetence of the Bay Terrace Gap store in Bayside, NY. While shopping there today, they had 2 counters opened to pay w/ 1 employee each there. 2 customers were at each counter and one wanted to have the store find them an item and order for them (which I don't know why they can't do that online) and the other, the Gap employee was taking FOREVER to scan and tally up the cost. It was so slow that the other customers were complaining why they can't open another register. After many more complaints, from my wife as well, they FINALLY opened another register - at the other side of the store! How does that make any sense? The register that had the lady looking for her item at the other stores had no one behind her, the other register that was taking forever had 4-5 people and they open the register on the side with the 1 customer only?? Logic eludes this store and this is not the first time I've seen this happen.

My wife complained and the RUDE employee said to her, "we do not open registers just for you". Then she turned to the people at her register, and said, "hmm I forgot my password" to open her register. Really smart.

We decided NOT to buy any of the items and will never return. Horrible, rude, slow, incompetent, and they just lost our business.

I would like to know how I can contact to issue a complaint.

I called Gap today to pay off a balance and they referred me to 1-800-887-1198 ex: 3900 to pay with a check without a $15.00 service fee. I called this number and a man answered the extension line. I mentioned I needed to pay off a balance and he began verbally screaming at me and told me I have the wrong number and he hung up on me.
I called back and the same guy answered the phone and I said is this 1-800-887-1198? Apparently I said the wrong statement. He began by saying " is this the same lady who just called". I said yes. He told me to learn how to dail a number correctly and that I was wrong. He slammed the phone done! I was so upset this his conduct and feel it is so important to let others know. I called Gap back and they connected me to the complaint center. I spoke to a man named Rick and he was going to review the recording!
I am sure he will be mortified to learn that costumes are being abused verbally by their hired staff!!

I have called GAP customer service two days in a row now which ended with me being extremely dissatisfied. The reason for my calls was to better understand why my account was closed. For the past two payments I have accidentally selected a bank account that I am not currently using thinking that I have select my current bank. It's an honest mistake that once I realized it I immediately placed a payment from the correct account. Since 2007 I have paid my GAP card on time and I pride myself with doing so. I am absolutely shocked that considering my history with your company that I was not given some kind of leniency moreover, GAP's managers treated me as if I was some kind of delinquent!

When I asked one of your managers that considering my history if he could understand my frustration he replied "no I do not because I never pay bills with insufficient funds." He further added that "if I was so aware than why did it happen twice?" very rudely. The other manager snidely repeated how this is your policy and there is nothing he could do about it. Naturally, this entire process has deterred me from ever wanting to purchase from a GAP store or website.

The customer service for the Gap Visa card is appalling. Someone stole my card number and put a $450 charge at WalMart on the card - and I got treated like the criminal! I was told that if I didn't close the account, I would be responsible for further fraudulent charges. So I closed the account and then was told that it would be 7 to 10 business days before I got a new card. I said that I wanted the card sent overnight. And you know what the Gap people said? Drop dead.

Unbelievable, GAP would not allow an even exchange of their Classic White t-shirts XL to L when the identical shirt was still on the shelf because they had been purchased more than 45 days previously. Not asking for a refund or even store credit, just wanted to change XL for L. At a ridiculous $16.50 per plain white t-shirt you would at least think you were buying a little customer service... guess not. Won't ever shop there again, they are arrogant and rude.

I'm done with GAP VISA. The automated phone calls if your payment is late and then the inability to contact a LIVE person is outrageous. The phone number for customer service runs you through minutes of automated questions and harasses you about the reason for your call way before they will give you a LIVE representative to speak to.

I was late with my last payment ($200.00). My husbands father was in the hospital and subsequently passed away. Several times a day, EVERYDAY I received automated calls starting at 8am about my late payment. I have never been delinquent on a payment! The return phone number was another automated system. I don't need this card!

I was at the Gap store in Concord to exchange colors on the girls shirt and pants for the same style. The cashier would not exchange and wanted to charge more since the item was not on sale. I had to get a manager involved to get her to do the exchange. She seemed not to understand how to even type items that would not scan. I asked if she was new and she said no. she needs lots of training. Poor customer service. Also, she left the sensor tag on and it went off. Another sales person took it off the pants. When I got home, I notice they missed one shirt. Too many mistakes and issues for one day!!!!

Overcharged by store: price was reduced on ticket, but full price charged. On return with receipt - item in original bag, unworn, with labels attached, Gap refused to provide a full refund and asked us to leave the store. Very poor.

Unhappy. Got a promo e-mail with huge 25% off banner. The fine print basically excludes every damned thing in the store, so what is exactly the point of a sale? Didn't notice this until I got to checkout. Of course I cancelled my order.

GAP: Don;t bother with percent off sales with FINE PRINT. Just have a sale or don't Keep it simple. Hollister and Abercrombie DON'T DO THIS TO ME.

I was at the GapKids store in Valley West Mall in West Des Moines, IA today with my son. We were there around 12:15 p.m. shopping for boys size 8 Khaki Pants. I was looking at the standard chinos near the front of the store. I had questions, so I approached the woman working on a display in the front window. She said there weren’t any other size 8 pants in the store, or in the back, and went back to her display… She did suggest I check with JC Penney or Von Maur.

10 feet away was a shelf full of the new chino pants with the straight leg. The salesperson working on the display either didn’t know those were there, or chose not to point those out to me, as I found them on my own.

I went to buy 3 pairs (2 khaki and 1 navy). I went to the check-out desk to pay and there was one saleswoman there. She was on the phone with her back to me. As I stood there to pay for my son, she finally noticed we were there but did nothing but turn her back away from us. She did not make eye contact, smile, or motion to me that she was one the phone and would be right with me… Nothing. And the most amazing thing is, she was on HOLD. She did not say a word to me, or to the person on the phone for the entire 3-4 minutes we stood there.

1) She should be fired for her rudeness and extreme lack of customer service. No customer should be ignored ever, MUCH LESS when they are trying to pay you!!!
2) Was she not able to multi-task enough to simply check me out while on hold? Or ask a co-worker to come check me out?
3) The other salespersons should also be disciplined since not one of them was watching the check-out desk. If they did see us waiting, they did not approach to help.
4) I laid the pants down and we walked out.

On my way out of the store I stopped and told the woman working in the window that I wanted to buy 3 pairs of pants, but there is no one willing to help me pay for the items. The one woman at the desk was on hold and ignored , and no one else came to help. She told me she would check me out now, but I told her she was too late.

I worked in retail for 8 years in high school and college, so I understand how retail stores work, and how they should be managed. Honestly, whoever is in charge at that store should be fired for the lack of leadership, training, and expectations being provided to the store employees. It’s no wonder GAP, Inc. has been forced to close so many stores and has had such financial problems over the past years.

I will not be going back to GAP for my children’s school uniforms, and I will be telling everyone I know about the terrible customer service provided by The Gap.

Contacted GAP customer service. Instead of helping me, the customer service agent starts being flirtatious and asking all sorts of personal questions. I have never talking to anyone more unprofessional in my life.

I tried to call the Gap credit card customer service but I cannot contact to people only talk with the machine. How can I do?

Posted by Anonymous

Agree! NEVER apply a GapCard ever!! I applied a new one when I went shopping and the card was NEVER delivered to me. And suddenly, two months later, I received a bill with a charge plus late fee charge and interest. I've tried to call to the customer service several times but never got a chance to speak to the manager. I also emailed to [email protected] but haven't got any response yet!! The only phone call I received from GAP is a WARNING call from machine about late my payment!! (which I am not supposed to pay!!!)

The Gap credit collectors from 888-248-3182 call me 3,4,5,6, sometimes 7 times a day. I called them a month ago to tell them i'm not the person they are looking for. I do not have a GAP credit card and have NEVER HAD one. the woman said it would take a few hours to be removed from the call list. that was a month ago!! and they are still calling me multiple times a day. i am on the phone with them right now talking to someone by the name of Adam Williams who also said he has removed me from the system. I asked to speak to a manager and am now on hold - we'll see how long they keep me on hold...its already been 19 minutes.

Ireceived a birthday coupon and since I do not have a Gap close to my home used it when I was out of town. There was an advertisement of 30% of fleece hats and scarfs and other selected flece. I took a seatshirt and the salesperrson said it was on sale then when she checked she said no it wasn't, the display was very mis leading.
Upon checking out the clerk made a few errors which I caught and when the final sale amout came it was wrong and she said no it was correct. I had people waiting so I left. When we were on the road I stared to go over my receipt amd found out she didn"t give me the 30% off that I was suppose to get but did give me the 25% for my birthday so we stopped at the Gap 45 minutes from my home. The gentleman credited the 30% but charged me double for and item. So now, since I have no gap closer, I have to drive 45mins back to the Gap and get it cleared up. Basically the 25% I received for my birthday is used on gas. I realize mistakes happen but this is alittle much;

I wasn't very thrilled with the "customer service" I received when speaking to an outsourced representative regarding my Visa account. The other comments have helped me decide: I am done with Gap Visa & the Gap store. Courtesy, appreciating customer loyalty & keeping jobs in America are much more important than "Gap Rewards!"

I was appalled by the experience I had with the Gap's customer service department. I had a $19.00 charge on my credit card that turned into $78.00 after interest and fees. It took me close to 1 hour to actually speak to someone in customer service in the US. Once your account goes into collection, they route you to an offshore outsourced collections department (most do NOT speak english). After one hour my dispute was resolved. This card is more hassle than what it's worth. I am going to use my Amex card regardless of the point potential, just NOT worth the aggrevation.

At Wantagh Gap last night..after shopping and holding two armfuls of clothes, I was told by a customer that the machines were not accepting credit cards. When I asked the clerk if any cards were usable, she rudely said "No" and that was it. she had an attitude like I was the one who broke the computer. She should have explained to people waiting on line, since the line was fulled b/c of the sale. Today, I realize I lost the 40% off and could have put the clothes on hold. I just got a gap credit card last month, and I'm disappointed already. Thank you. I understand greatly that computers break down but employees should always be courteous and helpful. I'm Janice Bevilacqua, 1161 Vollkommer Place, North Bellmore, New York 11710. The Gap store is on Wantagh Avenue, New York

Why call it Custome Service - call it Customer Con. Was told my card did not exist anymore - opened a new one had not idea it as a Visa GAP I did not want - somehow my old account DOES exist and payment was posted to it and not the VISA account. Multitudes of outsourced personelle w/bad canned speaches and not real power are hounding me for payments, late fees, then they say they see the mistake and it will be changed and statement after statement shows my credit going down the tubes... I assure you that when this matter is cleared up - I will not do businees w/GAP again - their prices are high for the quality they put out - they get people in on fantastic sales but in the end neither the clothing, shopping experience or this one is worth it...

GAP can't be topped for abuse of their GAP Card holders. Here's their latest tactic - send your longtime loyal customers their billing statements right AT Christmas and then, if they haven't paid the bill by the 5th of January, there's a big, fat LATE CHARGE! I tell ya! - they are so creative! I encourage my family TO NEVER SHOP AT GAP....THEY HAVE NO CONCEPT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE! (CREDO phone service charges NO LATE FEES if you pay late - ever...how about THAT GAP stoogies?!)
