I have been trying to get through to someone at Stein Mart for 3 months regarding a return.
Their customer service is non-existent. Did they go out of business and still owe me money??

I used to shop Steinmart quite often before they closed. In fact, so often enough the staff/crew knew my name and asked where I had been if I even missed a week coming in to purchase items). I expressed my sad feelings about them closing to a cashier(Old woman who was a retired school teacher), and she just flat out slammed her hands down on the counter and said to me, Well, you didn't spend enough to keep us from closing." That was so not nice of her to say when I am quite sure thousands of dollars per year would have pleased any merchant. Ungrateful conduct.

Terrible and deceptive practices. None of the customer service or HQ phone numbers are working and the customer support email goes into black hole. Don't order anything because if it doesn't fit or you don't like it you wontt get be able to return it or get a store credit because no one will respond to you by phone or email. Disgusting. They should not be able to sell products without customer service support. Total rip-off.

I returned an item in March for a store credit or refund. I sent email inquiries as well as tried calling (no answer) to get my 91.16 refund ...no luck . I will never purchase at from them again.
Someone should shut down the online store !

What a horrible experience so far. They are not in the realm of normalcy in todays world of online shopping!
It took many many tries to even order the item on the website..I kept getting error messages.
Now that I have ordered... it has been more than a week...I have checked everyday and have no correspondence from them. The order show ordered and my credit card has been charged. I have called customer service many times and each time they wanted me to leave a number to be called back. I called again and got someone..who told me they would check and get back to me in 24-48 hours. Something is wrong here.

I couldn't be more disappointed with your online customer service. I purchased an item that arrived with a hole in it. I made 4 phone calls, Facebook chat x 5 and 3 emails over a week. Pictures sent day shipment arrived. Finally got a response after 7 days stating they would send me a shipping label and if product passes inspection I will receive a refund. The artwork has a hole! Of course it won't pass inspection. I just want a new picture. Will never buy from you again

Wanted to buy a jewelry fixture that was priced at $20. They said that I could buy it but could not take it with me. It had to stay in the store until the store closed at some undetermined future date.
What???? It had three necklaces on it and there were a half dozen of these fixtures each only partially filled. Stein Mart, I had money in my hand ready to hand it over to you and you said "No".
This business model may have been part of your problem.

I was just in your steinmart San Jose in Jax location
I asked the store manager - she had a ponytail and was working in ladies.
I asked two questions. One - when would markdowns be more than ten percent and when was final
Day of business was. She was extremely rude and snapped we don't k is". No eye contact. Plain rude. It is no wonder stores are closing with employees like this. I asked another lady who she was - and she told me she was the Store manager.

I went into one of the stores last Tuesday and saw big "Going Out Of Business, Store Closing" signs throughout the store. Tears came to my eyes, I have over 30+ years of history shopping at Stein Mart. This must have been a very difficult decision for the store officials to have to make. You gave the best to your customers and we will always cherish that and will always be thankful for that. I am truly going to miss you. Again, thank you Stein Mart for being there for us all through the years. May God Bless You All...........

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. ONCE YOU BUY IT YOU OWN IT.
I placed my first order with Steinmart.com on June 21th. One of the items I purchased was a battery powered wine opener. This was for a gift as I already have the same one I ordered. When I put batteries in the new one, it wouldn't work. I took the removable battery cartridge and placed it in my own wine opener and it worked just fine. I then placed my old battery cartridge in the new one and it also wouldn't work with old one. So obviously the new one was defective. I called Steinmart and told them I shouldn't have to pay to return a defective product and they agreed. They said they were sending me a UPS return label but that it was coming from UPS so it could take five business days. I waited and then called again with the same request. I waited 5 days again with no result. I called again - they told me my address must not be right (that's absurd but I had them send to my husband's email) again no label after 5 business days. Finally on July 17th I called requested a refund. I was put on hold for 2 minutes and told I would have my refund in a few days. It's now been one week and no refund. I can only assume they're failing and no longer care about their customers. I am going to dispute the amount on my credit card.

I am frustrated with my local steinmart. I purchased a Vince Camuto purse a few weeks ago as a gift. It did not work out so I tried to return it. I had receipt with me but it turned out to be wrong receipt. I had purchased it the week before using my credit card. I asked if they could pull up purchase from my card. They told me no. I have not been able to find receipt at home and I know I only have about 30 days. I paid over $100 for this purse and can't afford to lose the refund. I'm disappointed the manager didn't try to help me

I hate Stein Mart. I accidentally made a $200 payment to them (vs. Spectrum) on December 10 and called them immediately. I'm STILL waiting for my refund check. I've called twice and had horrible customer service agents who made it clear they could care less about my situation. When I told the second agent to transfer me to the survey, she hung up on me!!!

Unfortunately I was very disappointed at the stein mart clerks that they are out there. I had to return an item brand new and lost a receipt for it, the way they looked at me if I was stealing and brought back their merchandise. very poor customer service. I will never ever again go to any steinmart anymore. I usually do my shoppings at saks, bloomingdales, nordstrom rack , nordstrom and macys and it motivated me now more to stay at our existing stores that we usually shop there. Our credit score is above 3,000 and we are not even the type to return anything . With all those purchases we did before at their shop, I now regret it. Very poor customer service.

Today Oct 21/19 I decided to buy a hat from Stein Mart, Store 00160, Reg 4, Cashier 911335000 at.....
1115 South Federal Hwy., Pompano Beach, Fl....33062.
I saw a Cashier at a counter and went there. I stood there for several minutes as she was on her cell phone.
She then acknowledged me and pointed to another counter, saying OVER THERE!
I went 'over there' and she went back to her phone. She then came to me and took the hat, rang it up and as I was paying by Credit Card she handed me the machine and went back to her phone. Seemed to be texting!
I waited and waited and eventually she turned to me. During this time I was the only customer, and saw a Woman who was dressed in a white blouse and black pants who looked like Management.
The cashier handed me the receipt and I said ' this is the worst service I have ever received', and turned around and the Mgmt woman was disappearing under another counter. I walked over and she was hiding! Yes!
The Cashier said in a sarcastic voice to me., And thank you Sir, with a big smile. She then started to laugh out loud.
Just awful. and the woman didn't come from under the counter.
I am a 70 year old fit man who has shopped here before, as I am a visitor.
So.........this is your staff in display!

Complaint Type: Customer Service Issues
Problem:
I placed an online order approximately at 7:00 (EST) on October 9th, 2019. Immediately after placing the order I received an email saying one of the shirts I ordered had been cancelled with no explanation at all. The shirt was the main reason I placed the order. The other shirts I purchased were mainly to receive free shipping. Stein Mart falsely advertised their available products. I IMMEDIATELY called the call center at 8:00 a.m to cancel the entire order. 8:00 a.m. is when the call center opens. The online ordering department stated there was nothing they could do for me because the order had already processed even though it had only been placed an hour before. I then called customer service and they hung up on me TWICE. They would hang up and transfer me back to online ordering who offered me no resolution. I have never experienced such rude and unacceptable customer relations in my life. Stein Mart leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. All I wanted to hear is that I would not have to pay for shipping to ship other items back when I received them since they could not cancel the order. No one would help me.

My best friend was racially profiled in the Steinmart on 91st & Memorial yesterday......by someone of her own race! Now anyone who knows Jody Gilkey, or ANY of the Gilkey clan know that they have never needed to steal PERIOD! Yet this person named Barbara accused Jody (who has elite member status with this company) of switching price tags!
She accused her in front of a whole store full of people. This was painful for two reasons...
1. The last time Jody went into this store was to buy her father a suit just because..no special reason. She never needed one when it came to her daddy.
2. He was buried in that same suit months later.

I hurt for my friend and I am FURIOUS at the way she was treated by a salesperson. Barbara needs to loose her job....she doesn't realize or understand that the very person she belittled yesterday probably paid her yearly salary...that's how much business Jody alone gave to Steinmart....until yesterday

Your shipping and order process is way too long.
Ordered on Thursday my item is still in the "order received" mode!!!!
It's coming from Virginia and I live in Florida.
There's a definite problem in your process!!
I ordered an item from Houzz last Friday and their tracking service days deliver tomorrow!!
I will never order again from Steinmart customer service!!!!

I will never order online again. I've had nothing but poor customer service. Recently, I tried to cancel an order within minutes, but was told I couldn't even though it hadn't shipped. Now I'm stuck paying unnecessary shipping costs. Never again!

I returned a product via FedEx 11/15/17 it was delivered to warehouse and signed for 11/17/17 This is January 17/18 and still have not received my refund Worse company I have ever dealt with I keep getting replies stating 3 to 5 days and that has been since November I would never order or buy anything from Stein Mart again

Associates in OKC store were either on their cell phones or standing around visiting with one another, talking rather loud I might add. Very embarrassing. Some of the customers overheard them discussing inappropriate topics. Worst part is, turned out one of them was apparently a manager. When someone requested a manager over the speakers, he responded to the call!! I will not return. Poor environment. No class.

To whom ever: If Stienmart cares about their employess, they need to do more research on the managers! The one at Hillcrest Spartanburg, SC doesn't need to be a manager! She is very rude and talks hateful to customers and the employess!

Steinmart managers have strong favoritism and will not accept criticism of their favorite employees. If a person does not like you, they czn call you names, hang up on customers that call you, play games with you, take cash from your drawer with no explanation nor notation of action, yell at you shdn you are with customer, treat mexican customers with disdain even though they are cash and large client base, hive preference to their own friends, give discounts to friends that do not apply, managers ignore these things. One handsome man gets to take four or five breaks, talks on phone constantly, receives five or more personal calls, hides in bathroom for whatever, dating an associate and spends time flirting and talking, but no action on these actions, management favorite. Racism is rampant, I am spanish and associates hate when I speak spanish to customers, customers seek me out, so I get 9 hours a week, this not part time but barely time. I am only one that dresses from steinmart, one cashier wears same blouse aND pant every day, other cashier very plumb wears size clothing 5 sizes to small, very inappropriate. I bring my own cleaning supplies, counters filthy, registers screens dirty, just no pride in this store. When I call merchandiser for guest service, they take 5 minutes to respond.

I went into the one on battleground.iwas just looking I had never been in there I liked the the earrings y'all had I told the lady I was meeting my husband for lunch I would come back again I liked some earrings they had as I was at the end of the Ile getting ready to leave a alert at the pocket books went off I ask was it the earrings she said no pocketbooks and then said I will tell them it was u taking one I said I do the steal.i have never stolen anything in my life I have no crimal record and no I will never set foot in one of your stores ever again.i just wish she had called the law I would have sued y'all.

I have no words to describe how disgusted I am of Stein Mart customer services. I speak English fluently, unlike my parents who had only a year of English classes. The cashier, a tall black woman with a Santa hat on her head had nothing to do with the good vibes of Christmas and her outfit. She was sarcastic and unwilling to take care of us. She was acting like she knows English and my parents aren't as good at it, being sarcastic about it and rude! And when she had to give the change back, she said my mom doesn't want her change, which was 50 $. I asked why would you say that, why you gotta be so rude, she said cuz she doesn't have her hand up. I am feeling bad, embarrassed and in some sense bullied. Is this the way you treat your customers?? I swear! Next time if I see such attitude towards me and my parents I am gonna fry you and your supervisor.

I have been shopping at SteinMart for years love it. I can't believe this store is closing. This is a awful. Jay Stein you could not weather the storm of the person you probably help to put in office. What about your employees? You probably helped put 45 in office. Can't you file for reorganization like SEARS. You could at least keep 2 stores open in every city. What are your employees going to do? I LOVE STEINMART. The employees are super friendly good ole fashioned hospitality. You should rethink this!

I was visiting in Houston on May 7, 2016. I went shopping at SteinMart store # 0056. I was very impressed with a particular employee there. Her name was Jeniece Bealer. She was very upbeat an positive. She initiated dialogue and offered to assist me. When I made my request, she took ownership of the situation and helped me search that store as well as other stores for merchandise I was looking for. Her sales technique was refreshing.

I had a very positive phone experience at the Metairie, LA store on 03/31/16 with Darlene in the women's dept. and the operator who initially answered the call. Darlene was bust in her department but was patient and polite with me and still searched for the items I was requested. The operator was very informative and told me I would not get any info on the items I was looking at on line because the Style numbers were different. She the connecter me with the appropriate Dept. to give a description of the items. I know this is more challenging than just checking for an item using a style# at the register but Darlene still accommodated me in a professional and courteous manner.

The Asheville, NC store use to be amazing. This new manager Marcy is so mean to her employees and is a bit overwhelming i would rather deal with any other manager in the store but her. Be warned you are better off asking who the manager is. Unless you would like to her the BS Marcy has to say.
