Customer support is LOUSY. Our web site has been plagued with a specific network intercept of a JSON call from a well-known plugin. 100's of sites use this plugin against the same common database server daily with no issues. I have a site I directly manage that currently hosts an identically configured clone with no problems. The specific issue (ann odd intercept page instead of the server's response) is well documented from multiple sources on the web. HostGator won't even bother to respond promptly when notified of the start of a typically 18 hour outage. Exective support is useless.

I am a 73 year old woman, currently being held hostage by HostGator. I purchased a package from them and found out that they did not support the software they helped me install (PhpBB). From the first call for support or information, I was insulted, mocked, and never given the information I was seeking. Wnen I complained the situation became worse. I was provoked deliberately, put on speaker and made the morning entertainment. I did speak to two Managers/Supervisors who reviewed ALL the calls and expressed their concern that I had been handled that way. I was flat out lied to, even by a Supervisor who admitted it and apologized. (Christian). I was on the phone for many hours and made over 40 calls over several day, due to being hung up on, then just left hanging so I would hang up first and not get the survey, or just played games with and not given any answers. I tried to cancel the purchase completely
to free myself from the situation, only to discover that I'd been billed for a RENEWAL to occur on July 8, only 2 months after the original purchase which I had cancelled and been refunded for. I was contacted by a Supervisor name Jordan who promised to call me on Monday the 22nd. I did not hear from him, and called him back the following Wed or Thurs. Despite the support that I had been given for my complaints and issues about the behavior of the customer "service" reps, Kazel and Christian, due to them having listened to ALL of them, Jordan just sided with his reps on the basis that I used foul language while being taunted and toyed with. Jordan then blocked my account from processing through when I call. I just get hung up on. I spoke to Jordan about that and the false invoice, which had clearly been generated by one of the agents involved. Even he had to finally admit that no computer just accidentally generated that invoice. He promised to, and verified by email that he would cancel the invoice and restore my ability to call the company should there be any future issues. Now there are future issues. On the same day Jordan claimed to have cancelled the invoice, I got notice of a new one. And I cannot make calls to anyone at the company. Still, ready to move on, I tried today to redirect my domain which Hostgator controls, and guess what? My request for service was declined. So now I'm evidently black listed by Hostgator from being able to use my domain name and build a business so I can feed myself.

A consultant I had contacted for assistance in building my site told me that he has numerous similar complaints from other clients and does not recommend Hostgator.

I am 73 years old. I was profoundly mocked and abused by your staff, with the support and endorsement of Jordan.

Short of contacting the Attorney General in the states where you have offices,and/or getting an attorney involved, I don't know what to do.

Been with Hostgator since the they started. Support was a 10/10 now I would give it a -10/10. Totally incompetent people. I have several dedicated servers and every time I have a problem I have to start back at the begining with dealing with people who have no clue what they are doing. They lie and make stuff up. If it was an easy thing to do I would move all my dedicated servers but not that easy.

Sold a web site design for our account that was to contain ability to store files on it. Condition of sale for a lot of money to us. Now that the site is built we get multiple answers as to why we cannot do this. This company oversells there product.

Avoid please, they are pretty useless; I found their web-building tools to be cumbersome and not user-friendly. I decided to cancel (last year) and I'm stilll getting invoices for £300/£400, like two/three times a week - I have told them I wished to cancel (and did cancel) the auto-renew.

I have tried to make complaints lots of times, and have been ignored.

Their live chat is simply not live chat, it takes you to FAQ, which is useless.

You have been warned ... this company is second-rate with bells on.

Your company did not deliver and took my money!

The work is not complete - your team of security experts deleted my domain registration for my main site. Get my DAMMMM site back NOW! You have screwed me out of millions and then you asked me for money to help me and you screwed me even more. My team can prove the HOSTGator team did this and I am working on suing your company now for loss of business. As a small IT startup female black owned business, it has been tough enough getting business now your company has gotten my site removed from Google and the money paid for the domain and optimization has been tossed in the trash. I have a team of cyber security expertise from the government, Virgina, Detroit and Ohio. They are all saying the same thing and have all taken a closer look at the how the files became corrupt via the cpanel.

THIS HAS BEEN 4WEEKS of chatter and the end result is MY COMPANY IS SCREWED!''

The malware is in the Cpanel and your team, NOT MY TEAM, deleted my main domain www.picfinc.com an unregistered the main domain. FIX THIS TODAY! NOTE: All my domains were originally purchased at GODaddy and transferred to HostGator when purchasing cloud server hosting services 2yrs ago.

I want a refund for your team's incompetence = you charged me $300.00 for services you did not provide. I was told me and my cyber security tech (Mike) was told this would all be resolved Friday in 12 hrs. Then again Saturday and it is now Monday and you have been paid my the issue is WORSE, if that could be possible. I regret bringing my business to your company you have really hurt my IT Consulting company.

Thanks for NOTHING!

Christine

Email up and down for 5 days. Multiple calls to "Customer Support". They tell me they will get back to me ... via email! Yeah .. the same email that doesn't work!!! What is Host Gator's policy on acceptable down time? Obviously 5 days is acceptable. Is it 7 days? 10 days? 14 days? 30 days? Just tell me. How many days doe Host Gator consider to be acceptable down time?

Avoid if you can if your website is any part of generating your income. This companies' tech support is lacking in basic web hosting knowledge, is under-trained and incapable.

Beware! Worst Ever Hosting Provider
my webhostingreviews for hostgator
Worst webhost ever! Their servers can't even run simple WordPress sites properly. Every 2-3 days my website stopped working. Often MySQL database would stop working. My last year with them was worst suffering. I wasted a lot of time emailing them tickets and calling them. Rankings of my website went became poor due to their server problems. Please don't go for it. Choose only reputed hosting provider, never trust such liars and their promises.

Even that HostGator is far away from being perfect, I still recommend this company in some way. Their live chat system has improved within the last 7 months.
The still offer of baby or business accounts unlimited ad-on-domains or sub-domains. (You may point from GoDaddy). They offer still FTP upload. They offer beside free basic WordPress, free basic Weebly. Fair enough, you may create free sub-domains (websites).
All this - with one Baby account - domain, costing just about $12 USD, per month.

I have had quiet some technical problems over my 3 years with Hostgator. Still - make the best out of it! For people, who just want one simple website: Go for Wix or BaseKit! Simple, not complicated. Strait forward.
