You're phone system is awful! A ridiculous maze of crap to go through to talk to someone. I would recommend to anyone looking at this bank to try elsewhere. The worst I've ever seen, and I work with banks everyday!

i would like to sue these for not providing live customer support and making you waste time trying to navigate through. They are awful. Buyer beware....find another bank!!!! Whats worse is that they were supposed to wire money into my account and never did and i just can't get through to fix.

On 1/29/2016 , Branch location ATLEE STATION GREATER RICHMOND ,9186 CHAMBERLAYNE ROAD , , VA.23116-2509 ;MECHANICSVILLE ; on this date the customer service teller by the name of HEATHER refused to cash a check written to me from a client with a BB&T account ,I have been a customer for over a year and have never had an issue. I recently cashed a similar check from the same client for a smaller amount by a couple of hundred dollars. On this particular day she said she didn't have enough money in her drawer to have sufficient funds , the customer front of me cashed a much larger amount than myself with NO PROBLEM right down to the friendly service she didn't give me. She sent me to another branch where i had no problem.I thought that being a banking institution , there was no excuse not to have funding in the teller drawers at all times. Today 2/1/2016 , I had another encounter with the same teller ,HEATHER at the drive through window , today she didn't engage in eye contact, or have the decency to be courteous . She needs to be enrolled in a people skills training session or be taught the proper way to do her job or just plain FIRED.

If I could give this bank a "0" star rating I would! My husband decided to keep a checking account open with this bank after we got married. They were originally Susquehanna national bank and were taken over by BB&T. During the time of the merger my husband and I purchased a home. He provided them with an updated mailing address shortly after.
Yesterday he received a letter from them claiming his account was $90 over drawn! Perplexed & bewildered he called customer service. The woman he spoke to had absolutely know knowledge of friendliness. She advised my husband that a paypal transaction had been placed taking him to $3. He was charged a $36 overdraft fee & then after 7 days they began charging him $8 per day. They claim to have sent him a letter. However he never received it. Wendy in customer service would not believe he received no previous correspondence. She became rude & bilgerant.
So my husband decided to go to an actual branch to speak face to face with someone. The original teller was friendly and tried to help. However, the manager came out and told my husband that he overdrew his about and they can't do anything about that. So $132 later.... we closed that account. And will NEVER, EVER, EVER deal with this bank again! I suggest you use caution when dealing with them!

I cannot reach a person. I accidentally typed my acct password wrong. They say they sent email but I don't have it so can't get into acct. can't get live person . Customer service is awful

BB&T bank is a Large BANK they are buying smaller banks left & right. They can't take the time to help clients b/c lack of staff cutbacks.Managers are not professional with clients OR staff. Very degrading to employees & always looking for "extra" reasons to charge clients.

BBT..I'll NEVER bank with them again! Stay away from this bank. They deposited my money in the wrong account 3 times!!! My checks weren't paid, I received fees from BBT and the companies. The bank took forever to resolve and I wasn't able to speak to ANYONE! The branch manager couldn't get in contact with anyone either! I asked for the phone number for corporate and she said they don't have one. I have to call customer service, really? Their customer service needs an overhaul NOW!

Cant get my money out of this bank fast enough! For starters 1) if a ach withdrawl hits your account inadvertently (possibly due to your error) you will not be notified for several days. It will NOT show anywhere on your online account so you will not know to get it fixed immediately by making a deposit. Result:instead of 1 overdraft it MAY/will become 4 or 5 overdrafts over several days. 2) they will say everything is ok with your account because EVEN THE BANKERS DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON!! It seems you are allowed one overdraft a year no matter how they screw up. 3) They hold re-presented items for as long as necessary to wait for a combination of other items or unexpected fees vs balance that will give maximum overdrafts. They are PREDATORY!! BEWARE!!

BB&T does not offer biweekly mortgage payments. Instead, they refer you to a company called Paymap Accelerator who in June of 2015 was convicted of misleading customers in their advertising and ordered to pay $33 million back to customers. I tried any to sign up for biweekly payments and they say that their program costs $299 to enroll, and has a $5.50 monthly fee. I am disappointed that BB&T has chosen to work with such a disreputable company.

Every few days I try to login to online banking and my security question answers do not work. They are written down as I have two witnesses to what we used because this is the fourth time this month we have had to call BBT... and wait for 40 minutes to speak to someone to reset the password. This is intentional? Make the customers angry!!! BB&T will soon be out of business...we are going back to Bank of America. Good grief

Total ripoffs. Crooks. Charge $3.00 for paper statement fee no matter how many times you tell them not to send paper statement. What they charge for overdraft fees is out of this world. Please, please, take advice and never bank with them so you don't get ripped off and your account raped of all your money. Wish someone would have warned us!!

I have had several issues with BBT over the last 5 years: they didn't credit 2 deposits and luckily I had kept my receipts.They also somehow were deducting my debit card purchases from my mother's account. I am finally fed up because I have been locked out of my online banking twice in the past 3 weeks. Evidently they are changing the online security but don't have the manpower to implement these changes correctly. When I have called the online support number I have been on hold for more than 40 minutes before I hung up!! I know others that have had the same experience.The only reason I have kept my accounts with them this long is because of the inconvenience but it's time to leave!!!

A few good people working there but ....they also have some very incompetent people working for them. It takes 45-60 days for them to work a mortgage loan because they are too busy.....playing golf or goofing off. They don't return phone calls or emails. Each section waits 1-2 weeks before they even open your email. Their justification is they are just too busy to answer. Some, not all, need to have a wake-up call. No wonder they have so many bad reviews. They make excuses when they finally answer. If it was for those few good people, I would change banks and change mortgage companies. They have no excuse for their lack of customer support other than pure incompetency.

This bank does not help there custermers at the end of the da x all they want is a profit!They are willing to charge me $445 for $115 over draft for a total of $560 that is robbery with out a gun ! On top of that only offered to take $36 off the was from the corprate office Wow the worst bank i have ever had dealing with in my life. Do not us this bank!!!

Customer service is not a priority. No one returns calls, and your email messages go unanswered. They place holds on your deposits for no good reason and do not respond to inquiries. This is a typical big bank. Time to move on.

i have been trying to get customer service and like others it asks for a 4 digit security code. i have never had a security code and i think they know that and its a way they don't have to talk to anyone. it is impossible to get a real person and when i called my local branch they gave me the same numbers to call that i have been calling. after it asks for the 4 digit security code there are no prompts to tell you how to get one and my local branch did not know either. i have a good relationship with my local branch and would not change but bbt's online banking needs a major overhaul.

Wow I cannot rate this company low enough. My bank in Texas was recently bought by BB&T and I was forced to be apart of this incompetent organization. There is pretty much no customer service and the automated phone is atrocious. Whenever I can get someone on the phone they try to help out as much as they can (which is little to none) and are polite but the hassle in getting anything accomplished is too great. I've been trying to transfer money from this bank to a new bank that I have joined in order to escape this worthless enterprise and it has taken over a month to even reach a point where I can. But I still can't transfer my money! It's still stuck at this bank, and the day I am rid of having to be apart of this incredibly useless organization will be a good day.

Have Been With Bb&t For A While And Recently We Inquired About Getting A Credit Card To Start Rebuilding Our Credit As We Were Instructed By Our Mortgage Broker.after Making Application With The Banker On-line, She Stated That The Secured Card Was Recommended For Us, Which We Would Have To Deposit $400.00 To Secure It. The Next Day The Banker Called Us Saying It Was Not Approved Due To Our Poor Credit Rating? I Argued With Her, Then The Branch Manager That "i'm Giving You The Money, Of Which I Can't Spend More Than Whats In There. They Explained It's A Credit Product And That's Our Rules.i Responded That "i Trust Your Bank Everyday With My Money, Now You Don't Trust Me.....big Banks,big Thanks... Really?

We sold our house on 02/27/2015 and we're still waiting for a check from BB&T for our escrow. I called BB&T on 03/23/2015 and was told that if the check does not reach me by 04/23/2015 to call back and they will re-issue me with a new check. Well it would seem the check 'went missing" (better known as "the check was never mailed"). The customer service rep assured me the check was mailed out - ya right! - and had a new check issued again. Fingers crossed I don't have to ask for a 2nd check to be re-issued. It would seem banks are quick to ask for their money but oh sooooo slow to return what is owed to the consumer. Good luck if you're waiting on your escrow check refund. I'd like to know if anyone else had a similar issue
