We live in lower end of avery county nc our power go out if bird landed on the lines.We told the lineman where the problem is they don't won't listen our Community has got feed up with it every time.Duke power sucks my address is 1310 three mile hwy newland nc.

It is horrible that a supervisor or manager casnot be reached,, or refuses to come to the phone with a situation where a payment arrived there and has been misplaced by someone there.

I have proof that it arrived yet no manager nor supervisor will delve deeper to see. Unprofessional and unbecoming of this company.

I am so frustrated with Duke Energy - we rented an apartment from 10/2021 through 9/2022 and when we moved in they accidentally crossed our wire with our next door neighbor and we were paying their utility bill. They discovered the issue in June 2022 and apologized and said they would calculate the overpayment and send us a credit or refund. 3 and a half months have passed and they have still not resolved the issue. I have called numerous times and they continue to say they are working on it and blame a new system for why it is taking so long. This is horrible customer service again I have called and been put on hold and waited and waited and still no resolution!!!!

Duke Energy dragging their feet on restoring power. They claimed to be waiting on standby at the speedway buy I guess us in the neighborhood not in need of heat and power They crossed my report update with progress Energy..knowing damn well I'm under duke energy...I've been without power since 4pm 09/30 but they saying I just reported it at 9pm on 09/30 I guess to buy more time. Food lion is located right next to me so how they get power and we dont...like they not even open after 10pm and has mad insurance to cover any defects..
I have little kids and no heat or nothing. I don't have anyway to go. I would hate to see how things go with a real hurricane or ice storm...paying all that money each month...you should have been had someone to access the problem. They haven't even since anyone to evaluate the problem

Can you say Enron 2.0. This company has the highest rates I have ever paid yet has an amateur infrastructure. 3 days with no power and their answer "get a hotel" what? 3 days and you still can not tell me an estimated yine when my power will be back. ....cue the attornies.

Our community in Falcon Trace in Orlando Florida, lost power at 2am Thursday morning with no visible damages in our area. Other areas outside The neighborhood did not lost power and others had their power restore yesterday afternoon. We been trying to contact Duke Energy since yesterday with no success as to when the power is coming back, it's now Friday afternoon and we can't cook or use the AC. I'm wondering if the company is really short on working personnel to fix the problem?

Lost electricity at 7 am it's 1am and everyone in my neighborhood has power. When I called they said it was a fuse. How can it take this long for a fuse.....and everyone around my building has power. Don't understand that. Even the street light has power. And here we are with no power....

im in central fla where ian went through..was actually not bad..but duke power lost power around 1130 pm and now its next day at 6:00. still no power. kicker is they say nobody reported an outage till 3:00 pm. that is obsurd after a hurricane.

Absolutely, discussed in how they charged me for their mistake. I got it handled after getting my bank involved. I also have been making my payments over the phone after this incident, but now they have cancled that. So not only have they charged me and caused me emotional stress. They are now costing me even more because i have to drive to a payment location. Absolutely appalled by customer services and management on how they have handled the situation. Adrea? Was no help at all and extremely rude. I do not recommend Duke as a electric company. 0/10 customer service, 0/10 for professionalism.

I live in Florida and I have gone through two storms with Duke energy one was Irma and this one Ian. Sadly both times I have been without power only to find that other companies TECO to name one, has had power restored for their customers in an extremely timely manner. My power lines run underground and I've been without power going on 20 hours I've called Duke energy numerous times only to have the representatives be nasty and rude and say they have no idea that their technicians cannot be out on the road unless it is safe I am in Pinellas county we were under a tropical storm warning. It has stopped raining since 2 AM in the morning and the wind is barely blowing now and it's partially sunny but yet their technicians cannot be out on the road to fix peoples problems and give them their power back. Other people that live in other areas of Florida that have other companies have had their power restored in a very timely manner duke energy is a horrible company they do not upgrade their equipment but yet charge us for an upgraded grid which they're telling me now that my home may not even be on a grid in Pinellas county it could be on another grid and another part of the state which makes absolutely no sense. Duke energy is one of the worst companies out there. They will shut your electric off not caring what happens. People fall on hard times and when a single mother is working 70 hours a week and trying to dig herself out of the hole and she just need you to work with her and turn her electric back on and let her set payments up out of her next 2 paychecks. That is sad. No matter what we should have compassion for our fellow Americans. It's a hard world out here and the cost of living just keeps getting higher and it's hard to get ahead. Help your people instead of making them choose between electricity and Rent. I will be evicted now because I am 100 short on rent and I have no money for food for my kids until Oct. 7th when I get paid again thanks to Duke energy not being compassionate and not working with their customers

Several years ago wrote to the President of our regional Duke company to complain about the issue with conversion to smart meters. That did get worked out and we were enrolled in the 'read your own' program for our old analog meter. A few months ago, somehow we became 'disenrolled' and started receiving highly inflated 'estimated' bills. Made numerous calls to Duke and learned that there was some kind of internal change in some data system and that's how we became disenrolled from the read-your-own-meter program. Perhaps it was just some glitch, but given how much lower our own actual readings are as opposed to their highly inflated estimated readings, I wouldn't be surprised if we had been intentionally dropped from the program. They said that they're sending someone out to read the meter. I sincerely hope that we get an accurate reading and can be refunded for the overcharges in all those months we have paid their 'estimated' bills!

They are the worst company that I've ever had to utilize. I wish there was another Energy company around that I could use but there's not sadly. They want to give everybody your credit in July and now come August want to just take it back because they say oh it was a mistake. They just added it on to everybody's bill without even letting people know so now my bill is doubled and I'm expected to pay it and if not my Bill gets behind and it's on me their mistake is put on me. I called and they said pretty much there's nothing that anybody can do about it I have to pay it and if I don't well that's on me too. I literally hate Duke Energy. If you can avoid using them please do please don't waste your time I've had them three years and have had nothing but issues this is just the latest one. And they will lie they say they send out emails regarding this and that and they don't. Just avoid them.

Significantly overpaid last months power bill. Now its nine days after they received my payment and they have yet to mail it...they told me today on the phone that the repay could take up to 4 weeks to repay.... grade has to be an F.

The worst electric company in the state of Florida Florida have had more power outages and I have underground electric. I have had more outages in the last 5 years than I have my entire adult life with Sumter. Your response times are the worst problems are never fixed on time And there is always a repeat problem from the incident before. We pay more for electricity for than most people in the state of Florida and you guys cannot provide good service at all

Terrible auto payment system - was down for months , blocked elderly parents from enrolling for a year due to their issue / when they restarted used bank that was bought out and then disallowed auto payment for a year despite it being their issue and now must await monthly email to kids to pay monthly for elderly parents

Customer for over 13 years, Duke energy underground wiring went bad due to this back up genertator place on meter my electric bill during this month went from 250 a month to 762 called immediatly and given the run around thru accounting and high bill who never called me back. The high bill is still on my current statement and Duke energy not responsible.
what? it's your equiptment that went bad!!!!!!!! Keep in mind 2 people live in my house
new a/c unit inside and out within 60 days of this bill 1600 sq. feet. This is a better buisness issue I'm outraged....

Is there a way to know what caused a power outage in my neighborhood? I suspect it may have been planned and customers were not notified. Had to cancel an important appointment this morning because of it. Duke Energy service stinks!! ???

We just added a new address for electric service and ended up sitting on the phone with India for at least 20 more minutes after the real clerk was done with us. My beef is that the "set up" for this second call was under a veiled threat that we had to talk with India as a "quality check" our information prior to starting service - so we had to sit and listen to BS ups and extras offers that never ended and even threatened to get "bumped" to a closer who would have tried selling us even harder. That's when we disconnected and we'll just cross our fingers that the electricity gets turned on when we asked for it. I appreciate that we are all profit minded, but there has to be a trade off between what this type of time share high-pressure hijinks results in vs. a level of customer care. Veiled threats should not be on the menu...

Duke Energy has the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. They mistakenly forgot to put my name on our account AND put the wrong address on the "Request Service Letter" which I needed as proof of service for our new apartment. Both the representative and the supervisor refused to fix the mistake and resend with the correct address because my husband was not there to verify they could do so. I am the one that called to set up the account and the original letter (with the incorrect info) was sent to my email but now they cannot send the corrected version to me. Because of their mistakes, they are making us prove who we are and having my husband inconveniently take time to call them. I cannot stand the fact that I have no other option for Gas and Electric services in the area of our new apartment. They treat their customers horribly and do not care because WE (the customer) have no other option if we want service. Terrible!

I have solar and am hooked to the grid for night Electric use. My monthly bill was 12:85 per month because my solar energy produced by my panels offset the cost. So in January they recently changed their policy to have a "minimum" monthly bill of 30 dollars plus tax so now my bill is $35 month - more than double. When I called to inquire, they would not credit me the difference. In addition they incorrectly charged me for 2 months and have yet to correct it. I have a case open but they keep increasing the time for them to completed the case from 10 days to 30 days to now 45 days. They do not even let you speak to the manager when calling customer service. This is by far the worst customer experience I have ever encountered from a large company. I would rank them zero stars if possible because they offer zero assistance answering / resolving any issue I have.

Duke Energy NC has terrible customer service. 2/16 1st call- requested a technician to review my meter to make sure it's not defective and wired only to my unit. Didn't receive a confirmation about the work order so on Feb. 23, I called Duke Energy, only to be told that a work order had not been submitted, but the work order # was actually a Case order #. Was told it would be 7-10 from when the case # was submitted. On March 1, called Duke again, was told that someone would visit the property on March 2 and I had to be available between 8 am and 5 pm. No one from Duke ever showed up. I called again that same day, was told that a virtual reading was done and that no one was assigned to visit my property. So frustrated at this point. Each person with whom I speak tells me that they can't communicate the admin office handling the case # and they can't follow up with any technicians. The inability for the different departments to communicate is unbelievable.

Worst website and app I've ever used, bar none. It forgets my password and makes me create a new one every month. This has been going on for 6 months now! But even before the issues with my password I could barely navigate their hard to understand website. I thought the app would be better and it is, but not by much.
I'm really out off by companies that constantly encourage you to use their website when it's absolute garbage.

Moved from lumberton in August and canceled my service with duke end of August/beginning of September. It's almost Feb and I haven't received my refund yet. They say they sent it to the wrong address. Been calling since Oct and been getting the run around. On hold with them as I type this. Every month! Frustrating!!!! Seems like their job is screwing over hard working customers who depend on their services. Will NEVER use or recommend them to anyone. I've talked to a manager named Connie, who took my account info to deposit the funds in but that was over a month ago! I'm reporting them to the BBB
