I made my reservation through avis.com. Use my debit card and my Ohio drivers license to pre-pay for the reservation to the tune of $494. I rented this from the location at Hopkins international airport. I arrived at the airport to pick up the vehicle, and upon picking up the vehicle I was told I could not pay with my debit card mind you the money had already come out of my bank account and also I could not rent the vehicle with my Ohio drivers license. Never mind the fact that it is in Ohio reservation from an Ohio location with an Ohio drivers license that was taken upon the online reservation, I called customer service because I didn't understand what was going on. I was told that it would take 7 to 10 days to refund my money, but I was welcome to go elsewhere. I was also told that all of this would be in addition to what I had already paid them , I don't have an extra $500 just sitting in the bank elsewhere or I would have my husband ended up calling and we were told that they could pay for a reservation for the same amount of time at a different location not with Avis zero expense to me I then had to do the dance of clarification with the customer service representative where ultimately a new reservation at a different rental place would be at my expense and they would reimburse me, which is very unhelpful given my current circumstance being stuck at the airport. I am so disgusted with the treatment that I received today at no time was it made known on the Avis website, that vehicles cannot be paid for with a credit debit card at no time was it made known on the website that residence of Ohio cannot use their Ohio drivers license to rent a vehicle in Ohio my license was entered to payment website at minimum should have flagged my Ohio drivers license and disqualified my reservation based on the fact that I have an Ohio license trying to rent in Ohio from Avis in Ohio. I will never in all of my years ever ever rent from Avis again I find the treatment I received was very deceptive and very misleading. It is bad business Avis to treat your customers this way to leave them stranded somewhere believing they have a vehicle only to find out that everything they submitted prior to confirming the reservation was a complete farce and according to your representatives, not only at the desk, but at customer service would tell customers that their method of payment is unapproved and their drivers license, which is valid, which is not suspended which is not expired is unacceptable to your company. Do better! This is not how you treat people who are spending their hard earned money.
