Subject: Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct at Party City in Pearland, Texas
Dear Party City Customer Service,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at the Party City store in Pearland, Texas. I feel compelled to bring this matter to your attention in the hope that it will be addressed appropriately.
Upon entering the Party City store with my 7-year-old nephew on July 16, 2023, I saw this as an opportunity to teach him about budgeting and making thoughtful choices. As we leisurely strolled through the store, enjoying our time together, we approached the end of our visit. At this point, my nephew spotted a Roblox card that caught his interest. I allowed him to choose the one he wanted, as I stood behind, observing his eagerness to be independent.
To my shock and dismay, a Party City assistant employee loudly and rudely confronted my nephew, saying, "See, you are about to get on my nerves. You need to move away from the stand." It was evident that my nephew was taken aback and frightened by this unwarranted outburst from an employee. He was under the impression that he was not allowed to be independent even with my guidance.
When I asked the cashier, Justice, about the incident, she confirmed that Floyd's behavior had startled her and expressed her confusion about his rudeness. She informed me that Floyd was the manager on duty.
I approached this employee, later identified as Floyd, to clarify the situation. I informed him that I was with my nephew and had given him permission to choose a game card. However, my efforts to explain the situation were met with dismissiveness and a lack of professionalism. I also noticed that Floyd was more interested in flirting with two ladies at the counter than addressing our concerns.
I attempted to discuss the issue with Floyd, expressing my disappointment with his actions and requesting information on how to make a formal complaint. Floyd became increasingly confrontational, denying any wrongdoing and insisting that he had not yelled. He directed me to look for a number on the receipt to file a complaint, which was not present. When he couldn't locate the number on the receipt himself that I handed to him, his demeanor became noticeably embarrassed.
This incident has left a lasting impact on both my nephew and myself. It has instilled a sense of fear and unease in my nephew, who still asks why he was treated so poorly by Floyd. I have been greatly distressed by the unprofessional conduct displayed by Floyd during our visit to your store.
I kindly request that Party City management thoroughly investigate this matter, review any security camera footage from around 5:08 p.m. on the date in question, and take appropriate action to address this issue. It is disheartening to think that an employee in a store designed for joy, laughter, and celebrations would behave in such a manner.
I have attached my receipt to provide evidence of my presence in the store on the day of the incident. I hope that Party City will take this complaint seriously and work towards ensuring that no child or customer is subjected to such mistreatment in the future.
