Today, 11/24/2023, at approximately 12:30pm at the Ikea in Tempe, AZ I was systematically refused service for insisting the checkout assistant follow Arizona Administrative Code ("A.A.C.") R3-7-402(A)(6). After scanning all our items at the self-checkout, a candle holder did not have a upc code so we called over the checkout assistant- The bigger burly guy working the self-check-out closest to the escalators and main exit. He entered the candle holder number into his tablet and stated the price for the black one was $6.99. The candle holder we were trying to purchase was grey and was posted at $4.99. The clerk refused to fix the price. I asked if he would send an associate to confirm the price as mandated by R3-7-402(A)(6) and he refused. He refused to confirm the price using any store resource other than his tablet and then only to enter the price of the black candle holder. By now the line had swelled and he said we would have to run all the way back and take a picture.
I quickly shared with him R3-7-402(A)(6) and explained that I was not required to waste any more of my time to "prove" the listed price. He refused to check the price again and again. Finally, after around 15 minutes I asked for a manager. The manager entered the candle holder and the price was, as stated $4.99. After 15 minutes of calling us liars in front of the whole self-checkout line and refusing to check the price, the clerk not only refused to apologize, but then refused to allow us to pay. He refused to allow us to purchase the items we had already scanned stating that he must conduct a "random security check" of our scanned items. I stated "This is retaliation for insisting you honor R3-7-402(A)(6) isn't it." The clerk just smiled and laughed. I stated I would not be subject to any further humiliation. I informed him that I was a 100% disabled veteran and that his harramsent, refusal of service, and public humiliation was triggering my PTSD and that I could not endure any further harramsent.
He simply refused to allow us to purchase the items unless we allowed him to subject us to further humiliation stating for "security purposes" he couldn't accept payment until he rescanned every item in our cart. As he had already subjected us to 15 minutes of accusations, harramsent, refusals to assist or look up the price, and public humiliation and completely ignored my ADA request for my disability, we abandoned the cart and left without being able to purchase our items. As a combat veteran of Iraq and a 100% disabled veteran I would like to ask why I was subjected to this clear retaliation for asking the store clerk to honor R3-7-402(A)(6). I would like to know why a disabled veteran who identified his disability was refused service unless they agreed to be subjected to further humiliation and harramsent? We are filling a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well as the Attorney General's office of Arizona.

We ordered two tall and two short cabinets last June. We are still waiting for some of the front doors on the upper cabinets. All put together with missing doors!! Since June!! We have made numerous calls and no idea when the "back order" doors are or when they will be delivered. Incredible they are still selling this set if the customer can't put it all together. I have told many people I work with not to buy cabinets from Ikea. Shocked by the lack of customer service!

As an occupational health and safety specialist I suggest you stop spraying whatever the people dusting are using in the Red Hook store. It is toxic and is making me sick but Ian especially sensitive. Over time anyone can be sensitized.
Workers would be eligible for compensation and I had to leave early.

Terrible.
We had a delivery scheduled for 7/17. Ikea confirmed the delivery 4 times including twice on the delivery day.
We tool the day off work.
We had the city block off thr street for the ikea truck to park.
Ikea was a no show.
They rescheduled the delivery for today.
Again they were a no show.

Ikea Canada has the worst customer service. I bought a king mattress 2 years ago and it's all saggy and broken in the middle end. It's totally unusable and I wake up every morning with severe back pain. I've contacted them a month ago and called them twice afterward but no answer ice sent them the pu turns and receipt and they say well contact you in 3 days but the don't.

Terrible customer service. Our kitchen was paid for and purchased in June. Told install end of july then bumped to August then bumped to September...just wanted our
money with no guarantee of installation time. You get a different answer with each employee. DO NOT RECOMMEND doing a kitchen thru IKEA.

I have been on hold with Ikea customer support for 1.5 hours. It is quite literally impossible to get in touch with anyone at Ikea customer support. The online chat bot is not at all helpful for anything other than shopping, and then the chat window does not close and blocks the view of the rest of the website. Clicking on 'track your order' takes you to an error page. Clicking on customer support takes you nowhere (the button does not work).

I was shopping at the Denver IKEA looking for a few furniture pieces. At the end of one aisle was an ad for a drag make up desk. Why are you so political? I was so offended that IKEA is involved in this area. I lost all interest in shopping and left not buying anything. There is nothing at IKEA I can't find elsewhere, probably less expensive. I will shop for what I need at an American business.

Just trying to get in touch with a live human being is impossible. If you call the store, they will not answer without an extension number. They direct you to the customer service number (an 888 number) and after you wait 30-40 minutes, someone says Hello and then hangs up. Truly insane. I cannot physically go to the store it is over 3 hours away.

phone wait time was over 160 min and yet no answer, gave up after 165 min

The very, very worst.

This is literally the worst company I have ever dealt with. Don't even buy anything from them. They've shown they don't care about their customers, they've got horrible ratings all over...why give them more money to be a terrible company? If you read nothing else of this post understand IKEA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS...they show it every day, day in and day out. Go ahead and try to call them - if you don't know specifically who you want to talk to about what your issue is their phone prompt just hangs up on you? lol.

This organisation has come to a point where no one should buy anything as there customer service has come to a point no one cares about the customer.you are a absolute disgrace IKEA.

I got a mismanufactured gaming chair and I asked for a return. Since I already paid for delivery I ask to bring me the new chair and the truck that comes to my house can take my chair back. They said okay.
BTW first call was ignored by the employee.
Second call he said they will schedule the time for delivery. he didnt.
Third Call different guy got the call and scheduled the time. But he set the new chair as pick up instead of delivery.
Fourth Call, woman named Karen got my call and just ended it right after I explained my situation
Why the **** do customer service exist if they are like this

Order no 190293960 IKEA Australia

Worst customer support I have ever come across, even the staff say how bad the whole support system and communication is

We are trying to get our furniture assembled, which we paid Ikea over $500 for and you can't even get hold of who suppose to turn up, shocking shocking service you offer and don't sort anything out when it goes wrong, all we are getting is excuses and no solving

We have sold our house and we now have know where to sleep, as our beds have not been built.
Online system say our install is complete, nobody knows why it says this, as it is still sitting in 29 cartons on our floor.

Terrible customer service. The delivery company they use has customer service out if China. They refuse to let you speak with a supervisor. I will never order from them again.

I have been on the phone with ikea for hours a day for three weeks trying to get a refund for an order I cancelled. I've never had a worse experience in my life and I truly hate every single person that works for ikea. Worst place in the world I HATE THEM.

Worst customer service in the world

They have 0 customer satisfaction. I bought 2 pillows on Sunday and wasn't satisfied at all with the quality, I went Tuesday to get a refund and they said all pillow purchases are final even if I were to bring them in their original packaging. What kind of trash service is that?! Never buying anything from them ever again.

The customer service is very bad. I received a product with a defect and they explained of course I have to pay for another delivery fee (about 60 bucks) and there can't take my complaint. Horrible customer service for such a Big company. On their website they made it look like they are generous with exchange or refund. In my case, it's not even my fault. Never expected this.

Purchased a dresser on 4/4/22 from the Columbus, Ohio store. Upon unpacking, the two side panels were damaged. I immediately called customer support to order the replacement parts. It is now 5/11/22 and I still do not have my replacement parts. I have spoken to 5 different customer service representatives. My 4/26/22 call stated that the parts were pulled for shipping on 4/20/22. My follow up call on 5/6/22, the rep called the store and the store indicated that the parts were put in the wrong place and they would have someone from shipping call me back shortly. The store did not call me back. I called again 3 days later on 5/9/22 and the customer service rep said that they called the store and someone would be calling me back shortly. No one called me back again. I placed another call today (5/11/22) and the customer service rep called the store and indicated that the store does not have anyone in today who can resolve shipping issues and that they took down my name and number and will have someone call me tomorrow. I am not expecting a call. At the end of the call today, I asked to be transferred to a manager. The rep indicated that they have to put in a request for a manager to call you back. I asked her to put in the request and the rep said she could not put that request in because she resolved my issue today by expecting a call from the store tomorrow. IKEA has the worst customer support. I will NEVER buy anything from IKEA again!

IKEA customer service in Grand Prairie, TX sucks. I went to their restaurant and there was this young black female employee there doing nothing. I grabbed a cup for coffee and waited in line and she was just glaring at me with a bad attitude as if she was mad at me for her not doing anything! she never greeted me but glared at me. I finally was the better person and told her hello (which she said NOTHING) and then she rang up my coffee. RUDE, HATEFUL nasty service from this young black female employee at the restaurant. Their customer service really sucks!! Why does IKEA hire these rude unfriendly people at their store? Homeless people looking for jobs would do a much better job then she did. She was hateful and perpetuated all the negative sterotypes of black women having a bad attitude!

IKEA, you must stop the deforestation in the Carpathians immediately. We forced Home Depot to stop selling broom handles made of luan (Philippine mahogany). We stopped nyc from purchasing ipe for boardwalks and park benches. We will stop you too. Far better if you make the change on your own - claim it as a greenwashing coup how environmentally sensitive you are - otherwise we will make this a public relations nightmare for you.

I just got through! Use the 888 number, choose the option to change your kitchen order, regardless of your issue. A real live person answered!

I have just spoken to Gary in your customer service department.

He was charming, extremely focussed, efficient and helpful. He has helped me to know what to do next and how to do this. I hope when I call back I manage to get him again.

My query was in relation to new door panels for your previous kitchen range.

Their customer service stinks. Got a delivery link that didn't work. After 45 minutes on hold, I was basically told that they it didn't work because they don't update the links over the weekend. But the link still doesn't work (and it is Tuesday). Woman was rude.

Ikea Miami is an awesome store!!! There was a girl named Kim, in the living rooms department that was so helpful!!! Very patient, and knowledgeable

Posted by Anonymous

I recently went to the new IKEA in Miami. I was feeling overwhelmed, when a worker named Kimberly, who worked in the sofa department, came over to me and took care of me. She was the most polite, educated worker that actually took the time to help me! She was so patient and kind! Because of her, I will refer many friends to buy at IKEA! Please give this girl credit!

My purchase started out as a horror story, but Ikea ultimately made good and deserves some recognition for that.

I purchased a bed online. Even though Seattle has an Ikea, the bed was shipped from California by a fulfillment vendor called Dynamex (who, by the way, is just a fubar factory). When the truck came, it was short one box---the headboard! The driver said to call Ikea, who might be able to send a replacement box the same day.

I was skeptical, but called Ikea customer service immediately. They said they couldn't send a new box---only open an investigation, which *might* result in an update after three days and a new shipment ina couple of weeks. Since that sounded like a black hole and I was tired of sleeping on the floor, I asked for other options. The rep said there weren't any.

Well, we went a few rounds on that assertion and finally I asked whether, if I rented a truck and drove to Ikea, they could a) give me the missing headboard without recharging me; and b) reimburse me for the truck. The rep said: a) yes, and b) maybe. She gave me a case number and said I could call back for an "accommodation" after I rented the truck. An accommodation is, apparently, some kind of reimbursement option.

This all sounded too easy to be true, so I tried to call the local Ikea to confirm. Of course, they don't have a general public line---which is a little outrageous. So I gritted my teeth, printed my order receipt (which was necessary, since they can't look up your order in the store), and drove down to Ikea.

At the store service counter, they checked my receipt and then had the pickers fetch me a headboard from the floor. After that, I simply signed a confirmation of receipt and left---really, without further fuss or runaround. So, even though I'd been 80% certain that driving down would be a waste of time. Turned out, it was actually totally easy and satisfying.

BTW, it turned out the replacement box did fit in my car, and I ultimately didn't need to rent a truck. Possibly, it's an option for others, though. I'd be interested in reading here if it actually pans out for someone else.

Ikea is pretty good.. many european brands. Everything I buy from them stays together well and is made to last. When I call customer service to check if an item is in the store, they are always friendly and quick with the correct info.

Here's a tip for contacting a real, live person: If you used a credit card to make the purchase call the card company and ask if they have a contact number for the store because you have a problem with the purchase which needs to be resolved or disputed. In my case they gave me a number to the administrative offices of the local store! This is the number, for example, that employees call in sick. The operator was very nice and helpful, and so was the manager I spoke with. The issue was resolved in a matter of minutes. This beats calling the toll-free number and waiting on hold forever, and still failing to speak with a person.

Well, I waited for customer service for what seemed like an hour over the phone. I was transferred from one recording to the next over and over again and started calling from both my home and cell phone. A real human did finally answer the phone and she actually helped you. I am still waiting on my home deliver though. It was scheduled between 2pm and 6pm EST. It is now 9pm EST. It will soon be too late for me to let anyone in.

There is no way to contact the delivery department through the labyrinth of voice messages on the Stoughton IKEA store's main line. Eventually I called the 1-800 number, and they had to speak with the delivery department directly. They eventually transferred me to speak with them, whereas I was told the delivery time could not be changed. There go 30 minutes of my morning. I am waiting to see when my sofa will arrive and in what condition.

Problem: Micke computer desk; part in step 1 doesn't have two critical holes drilled.
The general post-purchase information of the 1-800 # above (opt 2 I think) led me to enter my zip code for the local store.
I was then on hold for less than 10 minutes, and the gentleman after looking at the directions for the computer desk we bought recommended that we bring that one piece back for exchange.
So far so good, we'll see from here. :-)

It was with great trepidation and reservation that I thought of dealing with IKEA on an item that I wanted to order. I tried for three days and was in complete agreement and understanding about their service, helpfulness and ease of making a purchase. I put the idea out of my mind. Then, as I was cleaning off my desk I discovered the chit with the item I had wanted to order and thought I would give it another try. I called 800-434-4532 number and after what I thought was much-to-long a wait the call was answered by a rep named TROY. This man could not have been more helpful He was more than just courteous, helpful and by the time we were finished he made up for all the horrible negative comments I had previously read, the negativity I had experienced and so I have decided to go forward and make my purchase. He did admit that IKEA has somewhat of a different way of doing things than we in the USA may be used to... not to say that service in most areas these days absolutely SUCKS, STINKS and one would think that we are in a financial glut rather than a financial depression these days. What ever happened to customer service...satisfaction and a desire to boost the economy rather than help destroy it? Whether it is COMCAST CABLE CO., telephone companies (cell and landline) or the guy doing yard work... these people must hate their jobs. You know, try starting at the bottom of the work force and EARN your level and rise to higher levels like you should rather than think you need to START at the TOP. Going to a restaurant is not such a pleasure any longer. The only thing the servers want is a 50% tip. Often the only pleasantries are when they bring you the check and return with your charge-chit. The consumer needs to FIGHT BACK and be vocal about things.

My first visit to ikea in schamburg illinos was a good start the asian women greeted us and made me feel welcome which was nice because you just don't see that anymore.I only wish i had taken her name she was great and knew more about the store than other employee's.But after that it was terrible no one to ask questions and staff rude i will never shop there again or reccomend your store to anyone

Ikea was extremely helpful although making my way around the shop was tricky as it was so big. OVerall i am pleased.

Have not neede a lot of customer service from IKEA, but the little I have had has been good. Every employee in the Seattle store has been helpful, even the one who might have been on his lunch break who climbed the wall to take down the clock I wanted since the only one there was the one on display. Had to return a couple items once and had no hassle at all.

Thank you - this number actually worked and I received an answer to my problem from an Ikea representative.

I had a problem with a couch I bought at IKEA. I called Customer Service as soon as I noticed (on a Sunday afternoon). Everyone I dealt with on the phone and in the store was very friendly and apologized for the problem. The only drawback was that I had to go into the store to return it - I rented a zipcar truck for my original trip and I was worried I would need to do this again. Luckily, it fit into my sedan with the back seats flipped down.
