After waiting for over an hour for a callback, I gave the information for the account. This included a callback number in case we got disconnected. I was trying to get the power turned off for my deceased father and switch his other account to my name, I was hung up on and not called back. I had to call back and wait for over an hour again for a callback. This is unexcusable! Terrible customer service. Get it together people!

Contact ComEd to have service for our Home Owners Association entrance turned off so it could be serviced. We were told we would be contacted within 5 business days. Never heard from anyone. Contact them after 6 days and was told I would be contacted by someone within a day. Never happened. Called them after 10 business days and was told a supervisor would contact me. That person called within a few hours, however, our electrician moved forward without service being cut since they had no confidence it would be turned off anytime soon. Not a good experience at all.

Power just came back on after over 3 days and we are expecting stormy weather tomorrow. You better go buy a generator because these guys are in no hurry to get your power back on. You can bet its gonna be off for at least another 3 days. Its kind of funny unless it below zero out side. Wow.

There are 448 bad reviews on this site and 16 good reviews. That kind of speaks for itself doesn't it? I understand people mostly leave reviews when they are upset and rarely leave good reviews. It makes me wonder why so many people are upset with Com Ed. 448 bad reviews and 16 good ones. That says a lot. I can certainly understand the bad reviews after personally dealing with them myself. Some times companies get so big that its all about the money and not about the service. Just read the reviews. Do you think all these people are lying? I don't.

Super bad service. I cant believe it. Customer service is really bad. Hope you never have to call them. Good luck.

who ever is writing good reviews about com ed has never had a problem with them. just wait till you have an issue with them and you will find out what theyre all about. really bad service!

I thought you had to be smart to run a power company. I guess you just have to be a lying thief.

I can't say enough bad things about these people. All you have to do is call them one time and you will have them figured out immediately.

Hard to believe these idiots are running our power system in machesney park il.

Worst Entity I Have Ever Had To Deal With While Trying To Cancel The Services Of My Now-deceased Mother. First I Needed To Change Contact Info With You In November--i Discovered That Was Not Possile. Now That She Is Deceased, I'm Trying To Cancel Her Services So That I'm Not Paying Buyer's Electric Bill. Again -- Impossible. If I Ever Feel A Desire To Move Back To Illinois, I Will Simply Remember What It's Like To Deal With Comed And Squash That Idea Instantly.

The worst customer service ever. This company does not have customer service at all. You have to spend an hour on hold to hear how busy they are and sorry for the inconvenience call back later and drop the call. But if you need to make a payment, press 2, that is all they care about. Tried to call about the issue their workers caused but did not get to talk to anyone. Message says "due to severe weather we only take emergency calls, call back some other time" and hang up. Seems like a standard message for them now.

God Awful! To customers who are senior citizens that have been with them for 40 years. They take you off the budget plan and don't tell you. They leave three voicemails in one week saying that your power is going to go out. When you ask about being reimbursed on some of the bill, they claim you have to prove that your power went out even though they know that your power went out. If this isn't a snake Dirtbag company I don't know what is. When you talk to the alleged supervisors back to back they each tell you completely different answers about your account. Apparently they have a monopoly on my area so I'm stuck with them unfortunately. If you have a choice trust me do everything in your power to avoid this trash company. They are egregious unprofessional unethical and borderline scammers.

Apparently unable to cancel service online. Followed all the prompts but customer service said they didn't see it. Wants me to pay for space I don't even have access to.

Takes forever to respond to outages

Posted by Anonymous

Called twice one lady said they'd submit a ticket to expect someone in 2 hours. Called two hours later new lady was rude and couldn't answer any question i had

Posted by Anonymous

Very Disrespectful And Hung Up On Me Whil I Was Just Rtying To Get A Billing Address Corrected.

Spoke with customer service rep regarding outage problem that has been ongoing but not resolved, the rep did help with the problem but he was very impatient and a little surly, I am left feeling dazed and confused. I have power but feel powerless oh well such is life when dealing with big companies.

Yeah they say it's 24 hour support, 7 days a week, yet they are "closed" at the moment. Make it make sense. This is incredibly frustrating.

#ComED
Issue: Downed Power Line (Live Wire)

We had a tree fall in our back yard. It fell across our power line and took it to the ground the weather head and pole stayed in tact and just rotated down so the house never lost power but the line was fully on the ground and POWERED.
I called ComEd Monday morning to report the issue. I explained that we need the line disconnected from the pole so we can remove the tree over the line and fix the pole on the house. The agent verified 4 times that the line was fully on the ground but we still had power. She said she will escalate the call and get someone out there. Within the hour a ComEd truck showed up. They knocked on the door then went to my fence looked over and stared at the pole hanging off my house and then looked at the tree then looked at the line from the pole then looked at the house again all without leaving the gate. I know this because I have security cameras and have recording of this. He then went back to his truck day there for about 5 minutes then drove away. Never disconnected the wire from the pole or house leaving the hot wire on the ground. He marked the system that my power was restored and I know this because I got a text from ComEd automated system.
I waited in case he went to get something or get more help but he never returned. Tuesday morning I called ComEd again and explained the situation. The agent began arguing with me and telling me I did not ask for the line to be dropped. I repeatedly did I told her but she still argued and even after I said regardless they should not have left my property with a live wire on the ground she still argued with me. She stated the tech left me a note which I stated he did not remember I have security cameras, she also said the tech is not going to do anything until I fix the pole on the house. I said so your telling me to go cut up the tree that is sitting on the live wire then go touch the metal pole with that the live wires run into and put it back on the house. I said so it's fine that I could potentially die doing this stuff..... Are you kidding me! She then said she would create a ticket and put me on hold for 18 minutes without coming back even once so I decided to hang up and call back. I got another agent who was very helpful and said she spoke to her supervisor and created a ticket to get someone out there right away. The other agent call me and left a VM while I was talking and said she doesn't know why we got disconnected but I should call back if I want someone to be dispatched to disconnect the power.
Now I fully expected to see someone right away and to my awe no one showed up to disconnect the power so I STILL have a down live wire across my whole yard.
Cannot believe ComED is okay with the liability that this is causing.

I would like to commend Brian Baity in the Com Ed tech support for the excellent job he performed today in helping to rectify the on-going issue we've been having with our past meter readings. During this service call, he was friendly and displayed a very positive attitude. Also, he showed that he was quite knowledgeable about the problem at hand. He gave a very detailed explanation in laymen's terms as well as offered several good suggestions for improving our future electrical needs. It's greatly appreciated that Mr. Baity arrived on time and that he focused his full attention towards obtaining a solution regarding our dilemma.

I'd like to thank ComEd for excellent electrical service for many years.

However, there are wrong things.

ComEd attempted to withdraw the same bill twice, and when my bank prevented this, ComEd keeps charging an extra fee for this protection and possibly triples the fees in chain reaction.

Instead of fixing apparent flaw in their computer services, ComEd's customer support keeps protecting the practice.

Here are the details:

Sorry to hear so many people with difficulties. Thanks for the "Press 0" 3x. Took 3 mins to resole my issue with billing.

I had a successful experience with them. When I called, the recording had me leave my phone number for a return call, which it said would be in 35-53 minutes. They actually called in about 20 minutes. My questions were answered clearly. This seems like quite an efficient system to keep us from waiting on hold!

ComEd is one of the best companies I have dealt with.

their costumer svc has been efficient and helpful. I have been w/out elec. a few times and ComEd has been responsive to my questions. I think we have been spoiled by their overall good svc....Just look at the rest of the US who are served by other Util. co.s, ComEd is much better, so may I say...'' Thanks ComEd"

I know many of us were frustrated by not having power for up to 5 days this week due to Sunday's storm, but to all of the tree and power men & women who worked 16 hour days in West Chicago...Thank You. You were amazing and did a great job.

I also feel the updates via text from ComEd were great--not always entirely accurate but still very responsive.

Thank you, All.

We also have been without power since early Sunday afternoon, after having just returned from a very expensive trip to Cosco for meat for a BBQ tomorrow ! while I too am upset with the situation, I have tried to keep a good frame of mind, be thankful for what you have. As a kid, we never had air conditioning, while somewhat uncomfortable sometimes, we survived and we will this time too. Make the best of it,what a great opportunity to defrost both of our freezers and clean them out. There's always things in there that we really didn't want to waste but probably will never use ! Our power just came on a little while ago but has recently begun to flicker again so I'm not holding my breath that it will last thru the night. I did reach a com ed customer service woman last night at about 10pm who said service should be restored by 11:15 pm, it wasn't, but she was extremely nice and I think glad she was not being yelled at. So not all customer service reps are rude, or mean, maybe they're just tired of being yelled at. And don't think I have money to burn, the lost food will not be replaced for quite a while, barely making ends meat but glad to not only have a roof over my head but nice cold running water too!

It appeared to be an overwhelming task cleaning up Lockport after Friday's storm. I appreciate all the work it took getting power restored. Some might say 48 hrs is unacceptable...but in light of how long it is going to take to restore power to the Mid-Atlantic states...I am grateful to Comed. And I appreciate the honest restoration times given. Just hope the rest of the summer is uneventful as far as the weather goes.

Thanks for getting my power on. I know these are trying times for everyone.

Just now--0930-the meter reader did an exceptional thing! I hope that he will be commended for exceptional service. He went to read the meter in the back yard, discovered our pet parrot out of his cage, and made a point of letting me know. I really appreciated this. If the bird had flown away, he never would have survived. I live at 18544 Sacramento Ave in Homewood. It is May 23. Please commend him for me!

After a 10 - 15 minute wait. A customer representative came on the line and assisted me with my problem. He took care of my problem with no problem. Happy with the outcome of my call to them.

Even though I had to wait for a live rep, I was very happy w/ the service. The helped me with a payment plan on my bill. I lost my job and needed more time. Thanks ComEd!

The storm took down a huge tree in my neighbors yard and as it fell on his neighbor's roof, it took the electric line and nearby pole with it. We were without power until Saturday evening when a crew from Union, IL. showed up and installed a new pole and hung the downed transformer back up as well. They even helped install the line running across the street to another house back up since it completely ripped off the tension bracket and line pole attached to the house.

The snapped pole and transformer only serves nine homes and most others around here had power restored by Thursday evening. Instead of complaining we all were thankful that no one was injured, no one had flooded basements, and we had some nice cool evenings to sleep. Sure, we had to throw some food out but most of us are not dealing with insurance deductibles, etc. from roof, building, or vehicle damage and have gone back to normal lives while the electric crews are STILL out there in the (now) unbearable heat, wearing hardhats, flame retardant vests, and heavy boots that can save their lives. Considering the number of power disruptions that this storm caused, having a few inconveniences is something I have learned to live with and not complain about.

Thank you, Intren from Union IL. (and all of the other companies that came from other States) for coming to our area and assisting our local Com Ed crews to get us all powered back up before the current heat wave.

Hello,
For the record, I am not a ComEd's employee. We just had a major storm people. RELAX. I have the same problems you do, but, for the most part, my A/C - furnace are working pretty good. Is ComEd a monopoly, probably. Is it reliable, yes. Nobody can control the weather. For the unfortunate times we bought a gas power generator - a few hundred box we did not have to spare but we bought it anyway a while ago. Easy fix.

I am an employee dedicated to provided quality customer service to our base of almost 3.8 million customers. It's sad to see all of the negative reviews, but I understand there are very many who are satisfied. Many customers do not understand their billing and are EXTREMELY irate when calling about their accounts. Chicago isn't always the nicest city, but I understand the customer's concern. Having power is important, and the economy is tough.

I will do my part and continue to provide knowledgeable, and friendly customer service....
